Masters in business. It takes more than a good idea to launch a successful company – being your own boss takes drive, perseverance and patience. When was the last time you discovered a new store or restaurant and were instantly hooked? The ambiance was warm and welcoming. The décor and light fixtures were perfect. Their service made you feel welcomed – you were treated like royalty. This new love doesn’t happen by chance; the establishment was the brainchild of someone who had a clear vision.

In this issue of Compass we highlight small business owners who have set up shop at the West End. From restaurants and boutiques, to specialty stores and spas, these business owners have poured their hearts into getting them off the ground. You’ll learn how these successful entrepreneurs have made their businesses thrive, and learn about the passion it takes to succeed.

Speaking of success, great things keep happening here. We’re excited to announce that Bonefish Grill and [solidcore] are now both open at The Shops at West End. We’re excited to have these new concepts at the shopping center. Both have a history of proven success in other parts of the country; we’re proud to welcome their first locations in Minnesota. Plus, in 2015 we’ll be announcing some new merchants opening their doors here.

Until then, we need to get through a long Minnesota winter. It seems people either love or hate it. Regardless, in this issue we offer ways to make the most of the season no matter what you think of it. The best advice: take time for you. Get pampered at a Shops at West End spa or salon. Meet an old friend for dinner to reminisce and catch up on their life. Browse our boutiques and find the perfect outfit for your next date night or upcoming warm weather trip. We can get through the winter together – one blizzard at a time!

See you around the shopping center.

Be well. Stay warm!

We can get through

the winter together –

one blizzard at a time!

WHAT’S HOT {Kids: make your own cell phone cases! When 9-year-old Liam Farrell, nicknamed “Liam Bobiam”, first started drawing, he had no idea that he had the power to change lives. Liam’s family started their company, Bobiam, in 2010 inspired by his drawings. Based in Minneapolis, Bobiam continues to grow in the number of youth artists featured within the company. Children 18 and younger submit drawings which are then printed on apparel for men, women and children, as well as canvases and accessories such as phone covers and coffee mugs. Creative Kidstuff carries templates which can be submitted to create custom phone covers and mugs. Those designs may even be selected to be sold on the company’s website, in which the artist gets a portion of the proceeds.

Bonefish open for business.Bonefish Grill opened at The Shops at West End in early November. As the “Fresh Fish Experts,” Bonefish Grill specializes in market fresh fish cooked over a wood-burning grill. They travel the globe to bring you traditional and unique varieties of fish such as wild Atlantic salmon, sea bass and arctic char at

the peak of their seasons. Their fish is inspected and hand-cut daily – a ritual they take very seriously. They then pair all their selections with a tantalizing array of sauces and original toppings made daily.

Bonefish is also known for their signature appetizers and hand helds including the famous Bang Bang Shrimp, Ahi Tuna Sashimi, Prince Edward Island Mussels Josephine and Half-Pound American Kobe Beef Burgers. You can choose simply-grilled fish with a choice of five signature sauces including a sweet Pan Asian glaze or the NEW Lime Tomato Garlic sauce. Guests can also choose to truly indulge with selections from their market-fresh specials which change daily and include toppings such as Spinach Bacon Gorgonzola or Imperial style for a royal delicacy, baked and stuffed with shrimp, scallops, crab meat and lemon caper butter.

Ladies, leave dressing head-to-toe in trends

to the runway. Instead, incorporate trend

pieces into your everyday outfits to keep your

wardrobe and style fresh and relevant.

If you have always wanted a leather or pleather

skirt, now is the time to find one that will fit

and flatter your silhouette. Pleats work if you

have smaller hips or need to add more curve.

If you already have hips, stick with a basic

A-line, and if you wear the same size on top

and bottom, go with a pencil skirt.

For more casual style, the biggest trend is fringe, which can be worn as boho or southwest. A touch of fringe could be incorporated with a bootie in a mossy green color, which works with denim. A bigger dose of fringe could be added in with a handbag or detailing on a jacket. Either way, a little fringe goes a long way, so keep it in proportion with your size and shape.

As an extension of the southwest style, there are numerous poncho options available—from chunky and fringy to delicate and simple. If you have always wanted to try one, this is the season to shop for one. And to ensure it doesn’t overwhelm you, keep the length in the front no longer than the middle of your hips and pick a knit that works with your frame.

For work, it is a relief to see color after a black and white summer. Deep shades of red easily pair with neutral colors like khaki, grey, navy and black. Or combine layers of reds for a sleek and stylish look.

Tis the Season to bundle up and be comfy this winter

Pair any color – hopefully one of your personal best – with prints that are easy to find right now. Animal print, plaid and houndstooth are timeless and immediately upgrade your style factor as piece of apparel or an accessory like a scarf, shoe, bootie or handbag.

Men will always be in style with layers of patterns and color. Top off a casual or business look with a timeless classic, a pea coat. Pick a weight that is comfortable in a neutral color and try a patterned scarf to take it from John Doe to John Whoa.

As fashion becomes increasingly fast, meaning that it changes out rapidly and is available at all price points, it can be hard to chase. So keep it simple. Pick one or two trends that fit and work well with what you have for easy mix and match style.

ABOUT SASHA WESTIN Fabuliss founder Sasha Westin got her start with style, mixing and matching countless outfits on the floor of a very purple bedroom. Between clients, volunteer work, social networking and presentations she has advised countless individuals to leverage their image with confidence and style. In 2011 she trained with Clinton

Kelly of TLC’s What Not to Wear in New York, and in 2012 she trained with Stoltz Image Consulting in Texas. Learn more at www.fabuliss.com.

Owning small, thinking big

Minding Their Own

Business

Being a small business owner comes with many

challenges: Start-up costs, inventory, hiring staff, brand-building . . . the list goes on. For small business owners at The Shops at West End, the hard work is worth it. “It is an incredible feeling to see your vision evolve on a daily basis,” said Alyssa Jacobson, owner and chief inspirational officer of [solidcore] MSP. “I love that I wear so many hats,” said Rick Fiebiger, owner of phresh spa salon.

For these store and franchise owners — who own only one or two locations — The Shops at West End has provided an oasis of both engaged customers and a hotspot location. “We have a large group of frequent [customers],” said Christine Frandsen, owner of Forever Yogurt. “It’s fun getting to know them all.”

Here, we take a moment to appreciate those who keep our favorite stores running and our favorite products coming.

For Michael McDermott, owning restaurants is not only his passion, it’s in his blood: his father founded both Chi-Chi’s (named after McDermott’s mother) and Fuddruckers. “I always thought I’d work in restaurants in some capacity,” he said. “I always had it in the back of my head.”

So in the 1990s, McDermott opened Kona Grill, a steak and sushi chain that grew to 23 locations nationwide. After going public and being bought out, McDermott moved his sights to a new restaurant concept: Rojo.

McDermott, and business partner Jason Merritt, oversaw the concept and menu for Rojo, and its first location opened at the West End in 2010, with a second location opening in 2013 at Southdale Center in Edina.

At the West End, McDermott has seen his business flourish. “Everything [at West End] just compliments our business,” he said. “When we go into projects, we look for good synergy and a good destination—the West End has both.”

With Rojo booming, McDermott continues to create restaurant concepts. Most recently he opened Ling & Louie’s on Nicollet Mall and plans to open sushi bar Shag in the North Loop in early 2015. “I’m always doing different things,” McDermott says of his restaurant concepts. “I love to create something and absolutely love what I do.”

RapidFireGETTING TO KNOW THE OWNERS OF SOME OF THE SHOPS AT WEST END’S MOST POPULAR SPOTS IN THREE QUICK QUESTIONS.

Haute Barre OWNER: Amber Eggert

WEST END DEBUT: April 2013

THE BRIEF: Barre fitness fuses elements of ballet, yoga, strength conditioning and stretching for a total body workout.

WHERE DOES YOUR PASSION FOR BARRE FITNESS COME FROM? I discovered barre fitness in Los Angeles. Not only was it one of the most challenging forms of exercise I had every done, it was also the best overall body workout I had ever encountered. So I partnered with master barre teacher Nancy Norby to develop a method and technique that delivers a lean, tone and sculpted body in a safe and effective environment.

HOW IS HAUTE BARRE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FITNESS STUDIOS? We offer a welcoming, non-competitive environment and are fortunate to have amazing instructors that bring a unique style of their own. Haute Barre classes offer a fresh workout for all skill levels and abilities with an amazing, loyal community. Haute Barre is more than just a workout, it is a place for members to come for support, community and encouragement.

WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED IN YOUR BUSINESS? I am most motivated by the opportunity to help others get in the best physical and mental shape of their lives. I love that I wake up each morning excited to come into work!

Amber Eggert

Rick & Tracy Fiebiger

19theshopsatwestend.com | West End Compass

NutrishopOWNERS: Mother-and-son duo Darcy and Cody Haislet

WEST END DEBUT: 2010

THE BRIEF: With more than 200 locations nationwide, Nutrishop — which offers license opportunities for health-minded individuals — retails nutritional and dietary supplements.

HOW HAS OWNING A SUPPLEMENT STORE CHANGED YOUR LIFE? Darcy: I came into the business at age 60 with no nutrition experience and have since become a Certified Sports Nutritionist and took my own (and Cody’s!) advice and lost 40 pounds. Supplements play a huge role in daily health and nutrition as we age.

Cody: I discovered Nutrishop in Florida when working for the Related Group as a construction manager and owner’s rep. This was a job that demanded highly intense physical and mental capabilities, and my dietary requirements needed supplements to achieve the energy.

HOW IS NUTRISHOP DIFFERENT? Cody: We specialize in sports nutrition, performance supplements and dietary counseling featuring one-on-one meal planning and the use of supplements to meet goals. Our staff is certified sports nutritionists, and we all live by the example of loving our products.

WHY WAS THE WEST END RIGHT FOR NUTRISHOP? Cody: Being part of the great synergy of the West End and cooperating with other West End owners has been gratifying. West End’s destination events, like the Twin Cities Film Festival, You Betcha Festival and fitness and health events are all part of who we are.

When Rick and Tracy Fiebiger opened phresh spa salon, they not only wanted to open a successful spa and salon, but they wanted to change how business was done in the industry.

Veteran hairdresser Tracy had recently retired after spending 20 years in the salon industry. Even though she worked with talented people, she experienced a lack of teamwork toward a common goal due to a system set up for individualization that breeds competition. Later, when Rick became director of business development for Best Buy’s now-defunct EQ Life spa concept, he saw salon life firsthand.

So when the couple of 30-plus years sought to open their own spa/salon concept, they had a vision of creating a culture that shapes beauty industry professionals into becoming kind, caring, passionate adults who want to make the world better and keep the guests at the center of everything.

Enter phresh, where a team-based model (versus commission or chair-based models, which reward individual results) allows technicians, stylists and hairdressers to work toward a common goal. “The team-based model is about operating a successful business with a loyal following. Our team is compensated and rewarded based on that,” Rick said.

“We’ve found that under this model, everyone works together toward the same goals.”

In January 2008, the couple opened their first location on Grand Avenue, and in August 2012, the West End location opened. The couple, who lived in Golden Valley when the West End opened, always had aspirations for a west-side salon and were contacted by the shopping center. “West End liked our brand and that we were local and unique,” said Rick. “And we really liked West End’s location. So it was a win-win.”

Balancing locations on each side of the river makes for busy days and long nights, but the Fiebigers wouldn’t have it any other way. “You have to have an amazing work ethic,” said Rick. “It’s different to work for yourself. We’re working twice as hard and twice as long but when you love what you’re doing, it doesn’t matter.”

[solidcore] [solidcore] owner Alyssa Jacobson was in a common spot for many fitness lovers: her routine had become stale, repetitive and boring. That all changed when the athlete and self-proclaimed “fitness fanatic” tried [solidcore] for the first time while on vacation with her husband, Tom, in Washington, D.C. “We left humbled and addicted to a workout unlike anything else,” she said. “The spark in my fitness routine was back.”

With five locations in the Washington, D.C. area, Jacobson knew she had to bring the workout to Minneapolis. “Minneapolis is notorious for being one of the fittest cities in America,” she said. “It was ready for this experience.”

The 50-minute workout offers a total body workout on a MegaFormer, which isn’t as scary as it sounds. The patented machine uses slow and controlled movements with constant tension to work muscle fibers to failure, allowing them to rebuild stronger and leaner than before.

As of October 2014, the experience has come to the West End. “We have lived in St. Louis Park for years and love the area,” she says of choosing the West End. “There is a great community, convenience and culture at the West End.”

For Jacobson, the real highlight is being part of her customer’s fitness and well-being. “We have the ability to change the way a person feels about himself or herself,” she said. “Whether it’s relieving stress from a busy day, providing a strong feeling of accomplishment or helping someone break through their perceived limitations, our biggest reward comes from the success of our clients.”

MINQ OWNER: Stacey Finnegan

WEST END DEBUT: May 2013

THE BRIEF: MINQ offers high-end fashions for men and women. In spring 2014, Finnegan opened her second MINQ with women’s-only fashion at 50th & France in the space of her former store il Vostro Boutique.

WHY DID YOU OPEN MINQ? After il Vostro closed, I consistently ran into previous clients who missed the collections I put together under that brand and strongly encouraged me to get back into the retail fashion business. I wanted to create a space where individuals could experience both great quality and a great guest experience. I love the business of fashion and I learn more every day about how to run a stronger, more successful business.

HOW IS MINQ DIFFERENT? We provide a mix of price points for guests looking for different fashion solutions but mostly provide higher end lines. We also offer an eclectic collection of jewelry for women that includes custom made local jewelry along with international collections from designers.

WHAT CHALLENGES COME FROM OWNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? It can be easy to underestimate the level of time and personal commitment it takes to build and run a fashion brand. It truly is a seven-day-a-week job and there are days when being HR, IR, finance, head merchant, sales lead, marketing director, contract negotiator, garbage taker-outer and snow-shoveler can be very overwhelming!

Apricot Lane BoutiqueOWNER: Kristine Haas

WEST END DEBUT: Fall 2012

THE BRIEF: Apricot Lane Boutique is a specialty franchise boutique with locations in 30 states that offers branded fashion apparel, jewelry, handbags, accessories and gifts. Haas has two Minnesota locations: The Shops at West End and The Village at Mendota Heights.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO OPEN A FASHION BOUTIQUE? Shopping and fashion were always a hobby of mine, so I wanted to do something I enjoyed and could be passionate about. I’m a self-taught stylist with a corporate and sales marketing background. Owning a boutique allows me to combine my business savvy, corporate marketing experience and fashion sense. Finding Apricot Lane Boutique gave me the opportunity to make my dream into a reality.

AS A FRANCHISE, WHAT MAKES APRICOT LANE BOUTIQUE UNIQUE? One of the great and unique things about Apricot Lane Boutique is that each store owner does all of their own buying, so each store is truly a unique boutique. I love to share new finds and ideas with other store owners.

APRICOT LANE BOUTIQUE’S MISSION INCLUDES GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. HOW DO YOU DO THIS? I have hosted Shop for a Cause parties and have helped raise money for Gigi’s Playhouse – Down Syndrome Achievement Center, various cancer causes and the University of St. Thomas Women Connect Scholarship Fund.

VerizonFounded in 1983 and headquartered in Manhattan, Verizon is a multi-billion-dollar telecommunications company. But for many Minnesotans, it’s a one-stop-shop to buy a cell phone or fix your current model.

For Verizon franchise owner Jeremy Swanson, who has worked in the wireless industry since the 1990s, this is where his passion has evolved. “I have had a front row seat to an industry that has changed the way people work and live by making the right technology solutions accessible and easy to understand,” he said.

In working for Verizon, which is owned by Wireless Zone, Swanson has found the company to align with his values: listen to customers and adapt. “Verizon shares my same business belief system that the customer is first, and they continue to focus on what their customers are telling them and effecting change to set themselves apart,” he said.

For Swanson, owning a franchise has provided the perfect scenario for him to grown his business. “You have to be able to trust that the franchise you choose is the one that you can trust to always look out for your best interests,” he said. “If the franchisees aren’t healthy, neither is the franchise.”

And being a franchise owner, Swanson becomes the face for the larger brand. “When Verizon is successful, I’m successful, and when they have troubles, I become the face of those troubles,” he said. “Fortunately I’m part of a strong, reliable, customer-focused brand which gives me an advantage as my career progresses in this fun, exciting and ever-changing industry.”

Who would have guessed that setting up a computer system could set you on a path to owning a jewelry business? That’s what happened to Cindi Kranz and Bob Zagaros, owners of Bergstrom Jewelers.

It all started with Kranz’s grandfather, Gustav Bergstrom, who started the business in 1923. In 1954, her father Glenn and uncle Harold took over the store. In the 1970s, Kranz and Zagaros joined the business.

But it was the task of setting up a computer system in the 1990s that led Kranz and Zagaros on their path. The two collaborated on the project and it became clear they were a good team. “We had a great partnership and synergy,” said Zagaros.

So in 2001 when Kranz’s father was looking to retire, he asked the two to take over and since then they have continued the principles that Gustav founded the store under: the customer is at the center of the business. “When it comes to jewelry, it’s not just purchasing an item, you’re selling emotion,” Zagaros said. “We get great satisfaction in being part of these huge moments of people’s lives.”

More change came for the long-standing business in 2010 when the partners decided it was time to leave the downtown Minneapolis spot the store had called home for nearly 90 years.

Through thoughtful tracking, Zagaros had determined that 75 percent of the business was coming from customers who lived west of downtown. So with blessings from family, they set their sights on the West End. “We loved the area, and our customers have liked the change too,” Zagaros said. “We love our store. We feel like we’re in the right place.”

Brush Studio OWNERS: Jean Forbes and Jodi Karn

WEST END DEBUT: Winter 2013

THE BRIEF: Want to find your inner artist? At Brush Studio, an artist leads a group step-by-step through a featured painting.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO OPEN BRUSH STUDIO? A few years ago, we were having coffee and talking about a fun business for the next chapter of our lives. After working in everything from small business to a Fortune 500 company, we were both ready to try something new and fun together.

WHAT DOES BRUSH STUDIO OFFER GUESTS? The Brush Studio experience is unparalleled. The spacious studio’s ambience is a very important element that allows the customer to feel relaxed and encourages creativity and camaraderie. There is nothing better than the excitement on our customer’s faces when they see what they have created.

WHY DID THE WEST END MAKE SENSE FOR BRUSH STUDIO? When we first approached the owners about our concept, they were a little unsure as to where we fit in the mix of retail and dining. But we produced a video describing what were about and they were sold! We wanted to be in a location where our customers could enjoy a fun, social night at Brush Studio and easily go out to dinner and enjoy time out on the town before or after our event.

Forever YogurtOWNER: Christine Frandsen

WEST END DEBUT: August 2013

THE BRIEF: Forever Yogurt is a franchise-owned frozen yogurt shop with more than 28 spots, including locations in China and Panama. The majority of locations are in the Chicago area. Frandsen’s shop is the only Minnesota-based location.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START A FOREVER YOGURT LOCATION? Forever Yogurt has an amazing product, great branding and is such a fun concept. Who doesn’t like creating their own dessert?

WHAT CHALLENGES AND REWARDS COME WITH BEING A FRANCHISE OWNER? It’s definitely a plus having ongoing support, especially in the pre-opening stage. However, I’m not able to be completely independent and it can be challenging to not be able to make decisions on the spot.

BEING OPEN FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL MOMENTS THAT STAND OUT? Our first birthday was a pretty big milestone! But everyday, it’s great seeing so many familiar faces in the store and hearing that a cup of froyo can make a person’s day.

8 healthy ways to make it through winter

By Todd Pernsteiner

Be good to your skin.“Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!” says Kate Plec, phresh spa salon esthetician regarding winter skin care. “The One Love Organics line is incredible for winter skin survival! The company collaborated with Minnesota beauty writer, Elizabeth Dehn, to create products specifically for our climate here. My two favorites for the season are Skin Savior Balm and Vitamin D Moisture Mist.” – phresh spa salon

Get Your ABCsWe have been told for years the benefits of daily vitamins. This author knows just how good they can be. I’ve been taking Nature’s Fuel, Nature’s Fruits and Nature’s Greens from Nutrishop for two months and have noticed a difference in the way I feel.

Nature’s Fuel is a sugar-free, daily formula containing vitamins, minerals, greens antioxidants and amino acids. Nature’s Fruits are a whole food concentrate produced from over 35 antioxidant-dense superfoods. And Nature’s Greens are supercharged whole food concentrate produced from over 40 nutrient-dense superfoods. When used together, they are said to support immune function and help protect the body’s cells from infection.

Take it outside.Fresh air is important, even in winter’s harshest temps. Exercise outdoors can help clear your mind.

RunnersWorld.com offers some great winter weather tips on their website. One is “ HEAD INTO THE WIND. If you can, start your walk or run facing the wind and finish with it at your back. Otherwise, you’ll work up a sweat and then turn directly into a cold blast.” Another one they suggest: “STAY VISIBLE. When the days are short, you’re more likely to be walking or running in the dark. Wear reflective, fluorescent gear and use a headlamp or carry a flashlight so you can see where you’re going.”

Lululemon has cold weather running gear to help you stay comfortable and visible when running outdoors this winter. Their Run With Me Mittens offer reflective details to keep you visible and warm. Suge Tight 2-in-1 shorts and sweat-wicking run tights join forces in the fight against bulk, cold and sweat. Plus, they have reflective details to help keep men visible.– lululemon athletica

Locally, performances are streamed live to ShowPlace ICON Theatre at The Shops at West End. Tickets may be purchased online or at the box office.

Play.Whether you’re six or 60, the power of play rings true at any age. Psychology Today says “Most of us think of adult play as respite or indulgence, but having fun is no trivial pursuit. In fact, it’s crucial for mental creativity, health and happiness.”

Creative Kidstuff knows how to play. They have numerous toys, games and activities for not only children, but adults and families as well, including: board games, puzzles and active play activities. “The conversation over game play is so much different than conversation over dinner,” says Creative Kidstuff manager, Teresa Neumann. “Playing games brings you together for a purpose.”

Take a trip around the world.Travel around the world (culinarily speaking) without leaving the Twin Cities. The Shops at West End has culinary delights from a multitude of cultures. Plan a weekly date night or night out with friends this winter and try a new West End restaurant each week. Enjoy sushi and hot sake at Raku the first week, Fajitas and tequila at Rojo Mexican Grill the second week, and a Corned Beef Dinner at Cooper Pub & Restaurant the following week. After each dinner, grab a movie at ShowPlace ICON Theatre – all while your car is parked in heated underground parking.

Be creative. If the weather makes you want to stay indoors, perhaps a painting class would be a great way to get out of your house and give you a break from binge-watching your favorite TV series.

Brush Studio at The Shops at West End offers teacher-led painting classes evenings Thursday through Saturday, and some afternoons. You can create a masterpiece to be proud of, even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush before in your life.

The power of touch.According to mayoclinic.org, massage offers many benefits. “Massage is generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It’s increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension.” Phresh spa salon at The Shops at West End offers traditional massage, pregnancy massage and other body treatments such as hydrating wraps and exfoliating scrubs.– phresh spa salon

It’s autumn, the air is crisp, the leaves are turning, and it’s time to enjoy scrumptious, delicious comfort foods. Comfort foods

evoke warm memories, warm our bodies and bring smiles to our faces.

While many comfort foods are rich and a bit heavy, the good news is that there are comfort foods that can not only give us that short-term emotional satisfaction, but also help our bodies feel and perform at their best. These foods can help us have stronger immune systems and less body pain, fewer digestive problems and help us with other health issues.

Orange-colored vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots and squash contain high amounts of beta-carotene, a nutrient that is converted to vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A plays many important roles in immune function and supports the lining of the digestive tract—the body’s first line of defense to those bacterial and viral invaders.

Comfort foods get their flavor from herbs and spices. A wide variety of spices have been found to be highly effective for fighting inflammation, so don’t be afraid to add a bit of spice to your life! Turmeric, for example, contains a natural version of a compound found in many anti-inflammatory medications, but with no side effects. Garlic contains a

compound called allicin that has immune-boosting properties.

High fiber foods offer many important benefits for our digestive systems and can help reduce the risk of colon cancer. Eating the recommended daily amount of fiber is very important, especially if you are among the estimated 15% of Americans who suffer with constipation. Most fruits, vegetables and other plant-based foods are good sources of fiber; some of the highest fiber foods are green leafy vegetables (kale, collard and mustard greens), raspberries, beans, lentils, whole grains, ground flax and chia seeds.

Comfort foods can be so much more than just a tasty emotional fix. The right comfort foods can really help your body operate at its peak performance while giving one that warming and delightful scrumptious delicious satisfaction.
