What happens next?

After your GP has seen you, he / she will fax orsend the Physiotherapy referral to the HillingdonCommunity Health Contact Centre. (The referralshould indicate at which of our 7 clinics youwould prefer to be seen)

Your referral will be screened and prioritised by a Physiotherapist and in all instances you will beallocated an appointment as soon as possible.(Please note that for some problems a telephoneappointment rather than a face to face clinicappointment will be offered)

The Contact Centre will send you a letter with thedate and time of your appointment. If this is not convenient for you please telephone thecontact centre to rearrange on:

Please note that if you fail to attendyour appointment without informing us in advance, you will be dischargedand your GP will be informed.

To help us offer prompt appointments it is important that you:

l Remember your appointment.

l If you no longer need it, cancel it withat least 24 hours notice.

l Ensure that your GP has your correct daytime telephone number.

What next?

For some Musculoskeletal problems it may beappropriate to offer you a telephoneappointment. These appointments will lastapproximately 20 minutes. A qualifiedPhysiotherapist will ask you a series of questions toassess whether you need to attend thedepartment or whether you just need someadvice and exercises.

For face to face clinic appointments; the firstappointment will last up to 60 minutes. This will allow you to explain your problem and for thePhysiotherapist to examine you. This will ensurethat a suitable management plan is developed foryour physiotherapy.

For telephone or clinic appointments you will be asked questions about your general health. Please make a note of any medication you aretaking and have it with you. Please let us know ifyou are seeing another therapist or doctor.

If you are attending the clinic for an appointmentyou do not need to wear any special clothing, however, you may need to undress to yourunderwear. If you are uncomfortable about thisplease bring a pair of shorts with you.

After you have been assessed, yourPhysiotherapist may offer any of the following:-
