• ‘Bottom up’ • Follows 7 principles of development

Role of the LAG• To stimulate and support community

led local development and regeneration in your LAG area

• To deliver the Local Development Strategy (LDS) by selecting and prioritising activities that meet your objectives, operating in a fair, impartial and democratic way

• To monitor, publicise and promote the implementation of your LDS

Role of the LAG Member

• To take decisions on LAG activity to deliver your LDS

• To represent your local area and sector in the LAG

• To act as an ambassador for your LAG and LDS

• To ensure local debate on local issues and proposed solutions

Role of the Accountable Body

• Responsible for delivery of the funding programmes on behalf of the LAG – legally and financially

• Ensures all activity is compliant with EU and National Regulations

• Employs staff to deliver the programmes

• Partnership Agreement with the LAG

•August First meetings of new Local Action Groups

•September Local Development Strategysubmitted to Government

•November outcome of bid known

•April 2015 - new LEADER programme starts(or earlier??)

September onwards – begin preparation for CLLD
