West Hoathly Pre-school Parent View Questionnaire September 2016 Thank you to all the parents who responded to our Parent View Questionnaire. Your responses give us valuable information about how we can best meet the needs of your children and provide a safe, caring environment where they can have fun, develop, progress and make the journey to being ready for school. Please find the responses made and any action points we have taken from them. General Comments ‘My daughter loves going in to preschool and it has helped develop her listening and vocabulary skills in particular since she started at 2. All the staff do a fantastic job!’ ‘Very happy with everything provided and covered. Think the preschool is run by brilliant and devoted staff.’ How could we make Pre-school even better? ‘My only thought is that more communication to parents would be helpful, in terms of when school holidays are. If you don't have a child at school, you won't be aware of half term, holiday dates etc, so would be helpful to have these dates printed and stuck somewhere for parents to jot down, or something on the preschool website perhaps (maybe you have this now, apols if so!). My child nearly missed the last day of preschool ever because I was unaware of when the term finished! Also, a bit more notice given for events where catering/help is needed would be good.’

West Hoathly Pre-school Parent View Questionnaire September 2016

Thank you to all the parents who responded to our Parent View Questionnaire. Your responses give us valuable information about how we can best meet the needs of

your children and provide a safe, caring environment where they can have fun, develop, progress and make the journey to being ready for school. Please find the

responses made and any action points we have taken from them.

General Comments

‘My daughter loves going in to preschool and it has helped develop her listening and vocabulary skills in particular since she started at 2. All the staff do a fantastic job!’

‘Very happy with everything provided and covered. Think the preschool is run by brilliant and devoted staff.’

How could we make Pre-school even better?

‘My only thought is that more communication to parents would be helpful, in terms of when school holidays are. If you don't have a child at school, you won't be aware of half term, holiday dates etc, so would be helpful to have these dates printed and stuck somewhere for parents to jot down, or something on the preschool website perhaps (maybe you have this now, apols if so!). My child nearly missed the last day of preschool ever because I was unaware of when the term finished! Also, a bit more notice given for events where catering/help is needed would be good.’

WHPS: Please find all out term dates on the ‘calendar’ section of our website. https://westhoathlypreschool.org/pre-school-calender/ and also here https://westhoathlypreschool.org/term-dates/ we will also put them on our noticeboard at Pre-school. We will also be using our News Blog, which parents can follow, to notify parents of upcoming events.

‘Some more boy-friendly activities. Breaking, climbing, fixing, making jokes, telling funny stories’

WHPS: A member of our staff has now attended an EYFS ‘planning for boys’ training course. We make regular observations of all our children to assess their progress and interested in order to plan best for their needs. Recently in order to further engage all our children we have planned and delivered activities such as the car tunnel drop and bean bag hoop throw to develop maths skills in an engaging and physical way. We have also recently purchased some new resources such as construction small word, cars, large construction vehicles, and mobilo. As the weather improves we will be looking at some more larger scale activities outside.

How our questions were answered:

Responses from parents Response from WHPS if appropriate

We felt that parents may be unsure about this so we have added a page to our website https://westhoathlypreschool.org/helping-your-child-at-home/Please do also always feel free to ask any member of staff for advice on how to support your child at home.

Parent meetings and written ‘reports’ happen termly and staff are always on hand to discuss areas of learning and development. Please also follow our News Blog to get updates about activities at Pre-school.

We are constantly observing children to see how we can best meet their needs and support them to be engaged in their learning which in itself will minimise any negative behaviour. We have clear expectations, boundaries and systems in place to support children understand how to behave in a positive way at school and at home. Please see our ‘promoting positive behaviour policy on our website’https://westhoathlypreschool.org/policies/

We are constantly observing children to see how we can best meet their needs and support them to be engaged in their learning. Please always let us know of any particular interests, in addition to the initial joining questionnaire that you think would help engage your child at Pre-school.
