Survey over the 8th graders

I did a survey over

some 8th graders

a b o u t H i g h

School. In a class

there was 21 8th

graders. I asked

how High School

is so far and every-

one of them said it

was good. All the

students like High

School a lot more

than Middle School.

Another question

that was asked was,

what has the school

year been like and

all of the 8th graders

said they have had a

good year so far.

We hope it contin-

ues.

Pawhuska High School

has suffered many

tragedies this year and

the most recent was the

loss of PHS Alumni Rick

Holt. He was known as

one “good hearted

man”, a “tough hom-

bre” and “a kind soul”.

He was also known as a

great athlete. Rick lost

his life too early! He

had so much more too

give!......

Rest in peace

my friend!

Q: What are you going to do this year to make the band more

productive?

A: “Adding more discipline and competition, because without it the band wouldn’t be here today”.

Q: How do you like the size of the band this year?

A: “We have a fairly good sized band this year; we have 30-35. But more are coming”!

Q: Are you prepared for the full year ahead for band?

A:”We are always working towards it”.

Q: Is the band prepared for marching, contests, and concerts?

A: “Yes the band is prepared for marching, contests, and concerts. We have seen the band

room, and it looks great”!

Q: Does the new band room give you and the and the band a good feeling about the year?

A: “It makes us happy! Because the community has done this for and with us and we are very

grateful to have the community on our side, just knowing that the community will be there

with us, it makes us feel special”.

what is her favorite song

Also, if you could have dinner

with anyone who would it be,

“my grandparents because I

would like them to see how

far I've gotten”. What would

you say is your biggest flaw,”

I’m too intense, and I think we

all have that problem.” We

asked her if she was adjust-

ing to PHS well, and she

stated, “where I moved from

the town was small but, the

schools where big". I think

it is safe to say that PHS is

very lucky to have Mrs.

Shatswell as a vice princi-

ple , co-athletic director

and girls basketball coach.

We hope Mrs. Shatswell has

a great basketball season

and a great year at PHS, and

many more years too come!

P-town pride got the chance to

ask Coach Shatswell about

her new positions at PHS! She

stated in our conversation that

she loves PHS and the faculty.

Shatswell is the athletic direc-

tor but, when basketball sea-

son begins, she will be the

head coach of your own Paw-

huska Lady Huskies! She defi-

nitely loves basketball and is

very excited for the season

start up. She hopes to bring

pride and support to the

school as much as she can! We

ask Mrs. Shatswell how she

thinks we can restore the

pride at PHS and she said “

pride begins with ones self,

sharing it with others and

building it up. PHS is only go-

ing to be as good as society

makes it”.

A great positive attitude from

the new vice principle. We

ask Coach Shatswell some

questions kind of off topic like

As a PHS alumni we asked

how he thought the school

has changed? “The student/

teacher relationship! The

respect the lack of hard

work paying off.” Killscrow

stated, “restoring the pride

starts individually; it is con-

tagious and we will restore

the pride one at a time.”

Coach Killscrow is very ex-

cited about the upcoming

season. “Offseason is going

great our kids are working

well.” Here are some fun

facts about Killscrow you

didn't know. Killscrow considers

himself one of the best dressed

teachers around. He said, “the

GAP way to go.” If he could

have lunch with anyone it would

be with Sydney Sellers ( to make

all the other Sellers mad). His

favorite song is “California girls“

by Katy Perry. We are very lucky

to have back one of our own now

known as Coach Killscrow.

Craven passed away at

the age 76 of brain can-

cer. Wes Craven was an

American film director,

writer, producer, and ac-

tor known for his work on

horror films, particularly

slasher films. Such as

“Nightmare on Elm

Street” and “Scream”

franchises, and much

more. He made 44 mov-

ies in his life time.

Wesley Earl "Wes" Cra-

ven was born in Cleve-

land, Ohio, on Aug. 2,

1939, to a strictly Baptist

family. Though he earned

a Master's Degree in Phi-

losophy and Writing from

John Hopkins University

and briefly taught as a

college professor in

Pennsylvania and New

York, his start in movies

was in pornography,

where he worked under

pseudonyms. Wes Cra-

ven made his mark in

Hollywood with his first

feature film "The Last

House on the Left" in

1972, which he

wrote, directed and

New way of listing to music

ments pretty easily. If

I stopped concentrat-

ing then I'd miss all

those little things —

just like I used to

when listening to

MP3s. The head-

phone amp cer-

tainly made a differ-

ence to the quality of

the music I heard.

Th ings sounded

clearer, louder, and

bassier. That made

me think about how I

listened to music. I

used to just fire up

iTunes and Spotify

and press play. Now I

seek out h igh-

resolution files where

possible, and make

sure that I concentrate

on the music I listen

to.
