DESCRIPTION McColm & Company seeks an Associate to join our growing firm to support business development and client engagement. The Associate will have the opportunity to gain experience in both the operations of the firm and its delivery of services to clients - with an estimated 60% time spent on business development and an estimated 40% time spent on supporting client engagements and project implementation. The ideal candidate will have some experience in business development efforts and project support or management in an international business, international development or foreign affairs context with U.S. Government clients. The Associate will support identification and capture of new business opportunities, proposal team coordination, ensuring internal and external resources are engaged for proposals, and that the business development function at McColm & Company is perpetually learning and evolving to work as effectively and efficiently as possible. RESPONSIBILITIES Business Development (60% effort) Provide coordination support for the entire life cycle of new business development from capture and bid tracking to proposal development, submission and follow-up on a portfolio of opportunities. Coordinate proposal development in response to requests for proposals, including supporting management of proposal teams, calendars and deadlines; strategy development; partner identification and research; recruiting; writing; production; and after action reviews. Participate in and contribute to technical solution design for proposals Client Engagement (40% effort) Conduct research, interviews and provide general support to due diligence efforts Lead coordination of internal and external consultants, tracking project budgets and contract deliverables Support drafting and review of reports and case studies Assist in the construction and analysis of financials for business plans

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Experience in business development with USAID, Department of State, or other US government agencies

• Excellent writing, editing, communication and presentation skills. Ability to produce clear, compelling, motivating communications.

• Strong understanding of international development, economic development, fragile states and/or entrepreneurship and the ability learn new audiences quickly.

• Ability to develop effective working relationships with key internal and external contacts, including senior management.

• Entrepreneurial character, professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, flexible, can-do attitude

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree required • Minimum two years of work experience, preferably in the field of business development • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate

clearly and concisely and to write for diverse audiences • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a wide variety of staff

around the world • Ability to solve problems creatively and multi-task • Ability to work independently, under deadline pressure and with diverse teams and

manage production schedules, as required • Expert in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Insightly is a plus • Willingness to travel and work abroad at times • Fluent English required; proficiency in Dari, Farsi or Arabic a plus
