S.M.A.R.T. GoalsSpecific: I want to start skiing more often considering that I am capable

of going every day of the week in order to lose weight. I would also like to step up my diet and cut back on unhealthy foods.

Measurable: I will ski for up to 2 hours every day to get in better shape and maintain a healthy body.

Attainable: I believe that this can be achieved because most of my friends enjoy skiing and snowboarding as much as I do. So I will always have someone pushing me to go to the mountain with them.

Realistic: This is realistic because I am able to do something that I love while staying in shape with my friends and my schedule this semester can support it.

Timely: I will be able to do this in a timely fashion because the ski season typically wraps up by the end of April

How I Did I finished up my season with just over 100 days of skiing under my belt, thanks

to all of my friends who motivated me to go even when there were substandard conditions.

I was able to cut back on eating junk food and start preparing healthier meals after I stopped eating bar food on main street every night.

I certainly passed my goal of skiing for only 2 hours every day typically skiing for 4 or more hours a day. This helped me to train my body and by remaining physical was able to maintain a healthier body.

A lot of my friends pushed me to go to the mountain on the weekends, even when I really didn’t feel up to the task.

I’ve loved skiing ever since the day I picked it up and after getting so many days in this year I actually have something to prove of it.

This is a short little video I’ve made of myself to show what I have learned from skiing this past season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUzdB3F5RvI

How I Kept track Of My ProgressI kept track of all my days of skiing with a

sharpie drawing a tally mark on the side of my dresser every day I skied at the mountain.

I measured how much weight loss I have had in a journal hanging on my wall above my scale.

I had an alarm in my phone daily telling me what I was eating and at what time.

Beginning the course I weighed in at about 186lbs. And am currently down at about 178 flocculating from day to night.

Who Helped Me?My friend Kevin also set up a similar schedule where

he had 5 classes a day, 2 days a week. So he played a major role in getting me out of bed in the mornings to get to the mountain. And was also on an eating diet with me always asking how I was doing.

My roommate always motivated me to go even after he broke his wrist and had to end his season early.

Last but most importantly my dad always called and asked how the mountains were on a weekly basis and I knew if I were to tell him that I hadn't been going that he’d know something was wrong.

What I LearnedI learned that if you set a personal goal even

if it is only in the span of one semester, you can achieve it.

My initial goal was to lose about 5-7lbs. At this point I have lost almost 10lbs. And I do not intend on stopping.

I owe a lot of thanks to my friends who have helped me with this.

I am very glad that I chose to take this course.
