What is it?

Pathways is a new self-directed learning series intended to enable staff to:

• explore several paths of work-place skills

• track to positive experiences and careers at the U of A.

• Attend face-to-face and online learning sessions

• discover and unleash your potential

• learn more, do more, and be more successful.

How did we get here?• 2008 Focus groups identified 7 competencies

• NASA Executive approved in principle

• 2009 Validation survey sent to random sample of NASA staff across University

• 2009 – 2011 Program and curriculum development

• 2012 Launch

• Meet with your supervisor to agree on a plan for learning which links to work success

• Give yourself time to slowly move through the content and practice it

• Schedule follow ups with your supervisor to track your learning

What does this mean for Supervisors?:Assist staff in choosing content which will round out the individual’s current abilities by:

• Talk to staff about plans for learning which link to work success and set reasonable expectations

• Determine what time might be available for staff to move through the learning and practice skills

• Schedule follow ups with your staff to track learning and progression
