Welcome Visitors & Newcomers A warm welcome to visitors & newcomers! It is great to have you worship with us today. Please complete the information in the black welcome pads as they are passed and then pass it to your neighbor. Please take a welcome packet from the tables at the entrance. At New Life we host an open table for Holy Communion. All are welcome to receive this free gift of God’s grace. We believe Jesus is ‘really present’ in, with and under the bread and wine. Even though the bread and wine do not change in physical form, Jesus presence in, with and under the bread and wine makes this much more than a remembrance or symbol of God’s love. Because of Christ’s presence we also believe the real effects or benefits of this meal are; the forgiveness of sin, life with God here and the promise of life with God to come. Children are welcome to come forward for a blessing. First communion instruction is scheduled before Holy Week for 2nd grade students. Gluten free wafers are also available for those that prefer that option. Note: The wine is red and the grape juice is white. The nursery is staffed during worship and is located south of the worship space. Order of WorshipGathering: A Mighty Fortress is Our God ELW 504 (8.15) Cornerstone (10.30)Readings: 2 Timothy 3:16 page 967Message: Is It Inspired?Song of Response: O Holy Spirit Enter In ELW 786 (8.15) Awakening (10.30)Offering Song: Lord, Let My Heart be Good Soil ELW 512 (8.15) Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone (10.30)Distribution: Let Us Ever Walk with Jesus ELW 802 (8.15) Let It Echo (10.30)Sending Song: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise ELW 834 (8.15)

When Paul writes that the scriptures (which, for an observant Jewish man like Paul would have been the Torah, the prophets and the wisdom writings) are God-breathed, he’s saying that they’re books, but they’re more than books. They’re useful (the word he uses is ophelimos, which also translates as profitable or beneficial) for a number of things that help us do good in the world. We find in the Bible, the consistent affirmation that life is good, precious and a sacred gift from God and the consistent affirmation that how you respond to this gift is of utmost importance. These books have been breathed into, showing us what redemption looks like, giving us hope, insisting that people can actually do our part to heal, repair and restore this world we call home. That is inspiring! -(WITB p. 286-287)
