New Family Initiative

The Young Israel of Plainview (YIP) is a thriving modern orthodox shul. Located in Plainview, New York, we are just east of Great Neck and northeast of West Hempstead, with a conveniently direct commute to NYC. Ourcommunity boasts a local yeshiva (HANC) and a uniquely warm and welcoming kehilla comprised of over 180 families. Our Young Israel features a vibrant youth department with over 250 children of all ages as well as an active adult and young adult programming department.

Under the leadership of Rabbi Elie Weissman, 2010’s recipient of the Yeshiva University High Schools’ Young Leader of the Year Award, young families are joining our shul at an unprecedented rate. Still, understanding that theeconomic crisis over the last two years has impacted families’ ability to purchase homes, the members of the Young Israel of Plainview have decided to take aproactive role in assisting young families join our community.

The Hebrew Academy of Nassau County (HANC) in Plainviewis an accredited, co-educational, orthodox, yeshiva dayschool that provides an excellent well-rounded education,�rmly rooted in both Torah (religious studies) and mada(general studies) for students of diverse Jewish backgrounds from toddlers through 6th grade.

Modeled after the world acclaimed preschools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, HANC’s Early Childhood Center (ECC) o�ers a warm and loving child-centered Jewish environment where respect for children is paramount. With fully equipped classrooms, playground, indoor gym, music program and art studio, the ECC o�ers opportunities for children to grow in their love of learning within the framework of a positive Jewish experience.

HANC's enrichment opportunities and academic supports include co-curricular activities, math and science extension programs for high achievers, a professional Resource Room, and small group learning environments. Digital Smartboards, web-based software, and computer labs are integrated across the entire school’s curriculum to enhance instruction.
