Not to brag, but...Money magazine named Westminster one of the “Best Colleges in America” and one of “Missouri’s Best Colleges” in 2018, singling out a number of strengths, including a higher graduation rate than the national average, a higher average salary for gradu-ates within three years, and a 46 percent chance of low-income graduates becoming upper middle class when compared to the national average of 19.6 percent.

Forbes magazine named Westminster a 2018 Top American College.

U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks Westminster a top liberal arts college in the nation.

The Princeton Review listed Westminster one of the “Best in the Midwest” for 2019 — the 14th straight year the college has received that ranking.

Westminster College is ranked by Payscale.com in the top 15 percent of four-year colleges and universities nationwide for graduate earning potential.

The college boasts a stellar and varied internship program, with student involvement increasing 11 percent in 2018. A variety of organizations participate in the internship program, including the U.S. National Parks Service, Wells Fargo, the Missouri House of Representatives, and the Missouri State Senate.

Smaller class sizes mean a student-teacher ratio of approximately 11:1, allowing for individual attention in classes taught by full-time instructors rather than teaching assistants.

The degree offerings at the small, liberal arts college are certainly not limited: the school boasts 34 majors, 42 minors, and 12 pre-professional programs.

The college offers numerous leadership and service opportunities through more than 50 clubs and organizations.

84 percent of Westminster students participate in community service activities.

Westminster College boasts 15 honorary societies, eight campus honors groups, five social fraternities, and three social sororities.

The college offers a unique accelerated Master’s Degree in Accounting Program through its partnership with the Washington University Olin School of Business.

Westminster offers a unique Dual Degree Engineering Program in partnership with three colleges that students have the freedom from which to choose: Washington University, Missouri S&T, and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

When Mrs. McCluer greeted them at the door, where Churchill asked, “May I bring this stogie in here?” Mrs. McCluer served a luncheon before the speech, which featured a Callaway County ham. Churchill later said, “The pig has reached its highest point of evolution in this ham!” He later requested that several hams be sent to him.

• Churchill’s Sinews of Peace Speech (famously nicknamed the Iron Curtain Speech) given on March 5, 1946 in this gymnasium.

• Westminster actually had to build the gym because there was not a large enough space on campus to fit the crowds expected for Churchill’s visit.

• The lecture started in the afternoon at 3:30 pm. The gym seated 2,800 people. There were an additional 900 seats in Swope Chapel.
