Going north along Cornell Mall from the Welcome Center, you will reach a blue fountain (left) and a set of large concrete steps ahead of you. Down the steps, is the UNM College of Education Complex including the Kiva Lecture Hall. The COE classroom building is to the west along with the Administration Building (glass walls) straight ahead. Head straight through the doors in front of you and through the COE Administration Building.

Past the COE Building and to your right, you will see the Hokona/Zuni area. If you continue between COE and Hokona/Zuni you will find the courtyard for Hokona Hall which also includes the Residence Hall Front Desk. Hokona is home to “traditional style” dorm rooms which generally consist of one double occupancy room with a communal bathroom shared by the hall. Keep in mind that the eastern wing of Hokona/Zuni may be occupied by students and is only open to them and their invited guests.

Located on the North Side of Hokona/Zuni, is the fully accredited UNM Campus Police Department. UNM Police response time to any reported incident on campus averages around one minute, ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and faculty. To your right you’ll see several smaller buildings, each bearing a letter. These are the Student Residence Center (SRC) apartments. Each recently renovated space includes six bedrooms, two baths, a spacious living room, and a fully-equipped kitchen. The SRC apartments provide an excellent living environment for upperclassmen and graduate students, as well as students requiring ADA approved living arrangements. Now continue traveling east.

To your left you’ll see Santa Clara hall. If you go to the north side of Santa Clara, you’ll see Laguna and DeVargas as well. SCLDV is a community with a variety of living options, including a traditional hall (Santa Clara) and two suite-style halls (Laguna and DeVargas). Also recently renovated, these spaces include a mix of single, double, and deluxe single rooms. The suite-style floor plan of LDV offers the best of both traditional and apartment style housing as it includes a shared bathroom between small clusters of rooms, as opposed to a bathroom shared by a floor. Santa Clara hosts themed housing areas, like the Language Floor Themed Housing in Fall 2012. All three buildings feature common areas equipped with TVs and common area kitchenettes. All Halls offer free laundry, cable, and Wi-Fi.

Travel east from Hokona Hall. You are now entering the residential part of main campus boasting 7 different housing buildings for students. On your left (north) you should see Santa Clara (traditional style residence halls) with a set up much like Hokona Hall. Santa Clara houses 170 students, making for a friendly community environment. On the right (south) is the apartment style Student Residence Center (SRC’s). These are six bedroom and two bathroom apartments. Now continue east to the SRC Commons Building.

The SRC Commons are located to your right, just east of the SRC Apartments. This build-ing houses the central offices for many RLSH administrative staff members, a convenience store (Outtakes), and a 24-Hour service desk. The SRC 24-Hour Service Desk serves as a housing central during business hours, where students & residents can get answers to all their RLSH housing needs. Additionally, the SRC 24-Hour Service Desk remains open outside of business hours all year long, providing constant Safety & Security Staff presence and emergency response to issues within the RLSH system. Mailboxes are provided for all students living on campus and are also located in the Student Residence Center Commons.

Hokona Hall stands on the site of the first residence halls built on UNM campus in the early 20th century. The east side (called the Zia wing) remains a residence hall, while the west side (called the Zuni wing) has been converted into office spaces for the Education Department, as well as the Police Department. The building also hosts several common areas, including lounges, board rooms, a recreation area, a classroom, and ballroom. Residents on academic scholarship can apply to take part in the Hokona Scholar’s Wing. The West Desk, which services Hokona Hall and SCLDV community, is located in the front lobby of this building.

OTHER INFORMATION 10)

Take a left (north) before the courtyard area. To your right (east) you should see La Posada Dining Hall. LaPo serves as an all-you-can-eat dining hall for all on-campus residents, including residents of Casas del Rio. The excellent staff of the UNM Housing and Food Services department provide a variety of meal options every day, including made-to-order meals and a fresh fruit & salad station. All on-campus residents are required to have a meal plan; several plans can be used across campus or exclusively at the dining hall. Walk between La Posada and Laguna/DeVargas and take a right (east) along Campus Blvd.

Casas del Rio is a complex of four buildings built and managed by American Campus Com-munities (ACC). Each building contains suite-style rooms, both double & single. The complex also offers a workout space and a service desk. Casas del Rio features the UNM Student Support Center, an academic and advisement resource to students across campus. As of Fall 2012 this option became available. Students living in Casas Del Rio also have access to La Posada Dining Hall through the meal plan. Payment for living in ACC options is much like an apartment complex in which the student would pay month-to-month.

After walking straight ahead to the next street called Redondo Rd, take a right along Casas Del Rio. Located at the three way stop on Redondo Rd., Coronado Hall is a unique octagon-shaped traditional residence hall offering double, single and deluxe single rooms. Coronado also features themed housing, such as the Outdoor Recreation floor and the ROTC housing area. A recreational gaming area available to all residents, called The Underground, is located in the basement of this building. The East Desk, which services Coronado Hall and the Redondo Village Apartments, is in the front lobby of this building.

To see more keep traveling south along Redondo Rd. South of Coronado and accross from Johnson Field, Redondo Village Apartments (RVA) have close access to Nob Hill, Central Avenue, and the Gym. These spaces include four single bedrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, and common living area. The Hut is a recreational facility available to all residents, located between buildings C & D of the RVA community. RVA hosts several themed housing groups & other programs, including BAMD, Global Village, and Living Learning Communities. To reach Cornell Parking Structure continue along Redondo Rd.

Additional housing is available on South Campus, including Lobo Village and Student Family Housing. Lobo Village is an apartment style living area geared towards upperclass-men, provided by ACC. They consist of four single bedrooms with four individual bathrooms in each room. Free shuttle service is available to and from campus. RLSH offers Student Family Housing available to families and, space willing, graduate students. We hope you enjoyed your tour! For more information about all of your on-campus housing options, go to housing.unm.edu or call the UNM Office of Admissions at 505-277-8503.
