Finally an OS worth IIT KGP!

Ubuntu Reloaded is a pre-configured Gutsy system that has been pre-loaded with all you will need for your work and play in kgp by KLUG. Full access to your Windows partitions. Use and save your data there. No need to store anything in the Ubuntu partition. It doesn't stop there. You can install Windows applications inside Ubuntu using Wine. Or why not install and run a whole XP Pro in Ubuntu using VirtualBox! Use DC++ in Linux just like Windows. Keep your download folder same as your Windows DC++ download folder. :) Play all your audio/video files out of the box. Enjoy the thrilling 3D experience of Compiz Fusion. Chat with multiple accounts in Pidgin, including Gtalk, Yahoo, AIM (and what not) simultaneously !!! Backup and roll back your entire system or specific files/folders using TimeVault. Organize your pics in Picasa and search your PC using Google Desktop. Or do anything using Gnome Do 9try pressing Win+Space right now). Like it? :) Netbeans, Eclipse, Monodevelop for Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Perl, Gtk/Qt programming. And of course emacs for your PDS assignments. Lots more to explore. Set out on your own adventure !

Installation Steps

Double click on the install button on the desktop Go through the installation procedure. For guidance visit the official KLUG website www.openklug.org or consult any Ubuntu Gutsy installation guide on the net. Just google search for Gutsy installation Guide and pick your favourite. Ensure you give at least 8 GB to the system. Although 12 GB is advised for future upgrades/installations. After the installation boot into your system. Yyou will find a copy of this presentation in your home folder after installation, don't worry! In case you have Nvidea/ATI graphics card your system might not look so good. Relax. Configure your network. Again, if you are new to Ubuntu, visit our site or google search. It's easy, don't panic. Google search for Configuring network in Ubuntu Gutsy and pick your favourite. Goto System > Preferences > Network Proxy and enter the proxy server. Now go to System > Administration > Restricted Drivers Manager and enable restricted drivers. Restart your machine. Happy Freedom Day! For problems, support and fun visit our forum at www.openklug.org

If your 3D is not working...

If you are still not getting the suave looks of Ubuntu Reloaded check out a few key combinations. Like Win+E (Expose), hold Ctrl+Alt and grab your desktop with your mouse (that should give you the rotating cube), try moving your mouse to the extreme bottom left or right corners of your screen (that should show alll the open windows). If some of these don't work you'll need to follow these instructions. Note that these steps should be followed only after you enable Restricted Drivers. Goto System > Preferences > Appearance and select the 'Visual Effects' tab. Now select Custom. Your screen will reload. Now select the Preferences button right beside it. It will open the CompizConfig Seting Manager. Click the Preferences button in the bottom left of the window. Now press the 'Import' button. it should open your home directory. There you will find a file named 'UbuntuReloadedDefaultCompizProfile.profile'. Double click on it. And we are done. Note that you'll need to follow these same steps if you play around with the 3D configs a bit and break something. Don''t panic, you got your back-up in us! Just don't lose that 'UbuntuReloadedDefaultCompizProfile.profile' file :)

Its yours !
