Core Course Requirements
• 4 years of English • 3 years of Math (Algebra I or higher)• 2 years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year of lab if
offered by high school) • 1 year additional of English, Math, or Natural/Physical
Science • 2 years of Social Science • 4 years of Additional Courses (from any area above,
Foreign Language, and Philosophy)
16 Total *All courses must be on the NCAA’s list of approved courses for the respective high school.
Core-Course Completion “On Time”
• From the time you entered the ninth grade
• You have four (4) years or eight (8) semesters to complete the 16 core-course requirements
• If you don’t complete the 16 core-courses “on time” in eight semesters, core courses taken after the eighth semester will not be counted toward your NCAA academic eligibility requirements
• “On time” also means that if your high school graduation take place June 1st, you must graduate June 1st

from testing agency to the eligibility center

• In order to practice, compete, and receive institutional financial aid as a freshman you must…– Graduate from high school – Complete 16 core-courses in the required
subject areas – Earn a minimum required GPA in those 16 cores
courses– Earn a combined SAT or ACT sum score that
matches the core-course GPA (refer to the “sliding scale” in the NCAA’s Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete)

(SAAC)• What is SAAC?
– The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee consists of appointed representatives from each athletic team. The committee meets regularly with athletic administrators to discuss issues concerning student-athletes. Its purpose is to serve as the link between the student-athletes and the Athletic Department administration. Committee members get involved in campus projects, community service, and fundraising.

School Datebooks • Daily Planners – ALL student-athletes for the
2015-16 academic year will be supplied with a daily planner by the Student-Athlete Development Center to aid with time management skills.
Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR)• Dr. Maria Colmer (Associate Professor of Occupational
Therapy) – The Faculty Athletics Representative can be contacted about any matters that deal with athletics
and academics. As Chair of the AAB, the FAR leads the way in bringing student-athlete issues to the University Administration and community members, while also maintaining the Athletic Department's adherence to the University's academic policies. The AAB is a University-wide committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students representing various University constituencies. Student-athletes also have representation on the AAB. The AAB has subcommittees that monitor, evaluate, and address matters concerning gender equity, minority opportunities, student-athlete welfare, sportsmanship and ethical conduct, and academic integrity.
