School News

“Brothers and sisters: Rejoice always. Pray without ceas-ing. In all circumstances give thanks..” These beautiful words by St Paul set the tone for this 3rd Sunday of Ad-vent. Rejoice! Back in the Latin days, we called this Gaudete Sunday, Rejoice Sunday. It is not only the half mark of Advent, but also halfway through this period of time when we work hard to make a better highway for the coming of the Lord within our hearts. Isaiah the prophet reminds us concerning the Messiah’s coming among us: bringing glad tidings to all that is poor in me, healing all that is broken in my heart, giving liberty to me from all that holds me captive, setting me free from all that keeps me prisoner, announcing to me a year of grace abundant from a loving God. What more do we need? Spend some time this week focusing on what He can do for you…your poverty, your wounds, your prisons…your Savior is coming to set you free. Then bring that poverty, wound and prison to our Reconciliation Service this Tuesday evening at 7:00. Your Jesus is waiting to love you. Come, Lord Jesus, come. Thanks so much for your generous outpouring of food and help as our St Martin ministry prepared baskets for Christ-mas dinners for those who needed it. The workers there were overwhelmed by your kindness. And God must be smiling on you for your charity. Do not forget your end of year gifts to the parish. If you want to make one, be sure to do so by December 29 at the office, or December 30-31 in the collection at church. One last reminder: next weekend is a busy one here at church…4th Sunday of Advent Masses at 4:30 pm Saturday, and 8:00 and 10:30 am Sunday. Then Sunday afternoon Christmas Eve Masses begin at 4:00 pm and again at 6:30 pm…on Monday, Christmas Day, our Mass is at 9:00 am. Two separate obligations, two Masses required. May your Advent journey continue to be a blessed one! O how much He wants to love you! St Joseph, pray for us. Fr. Jim

All are welcome to St. Joseph Catholic School's Christmas Program! Please join us Monday, December 18, for a joyful and glorified event. There will be two shows on that day, 9:00 a.m. in the morning and 6:00 p.m. in the evening. If you have found yourself lost in the hustle and bustle this season, this is a perfect way to find the Christmas Spirit. O Come Let Us Adore Him!

Christmas Preludes The Children's Choir will sing a prelude before the 4:00 mass on Christmas Eve. It will begin at 3:40 PM. The Adult Choir will sing a prelude before the 6:30 mass on Christmas Eve beginning at 6:00.

Church Decorating

We will be decorating the church for Christmas on December 21 at 11:00 a.m. Please consider helping us make the church look special for Christmas. The more people that help the quicker it gets done. If you have any

questions, please contact Chrissy DePew.

Religious Ed Classes

There will be no religious ed classes on December 24 or December 31. Classes will resume on January 7.

Knights of Columbus Family Night

The Knights of Columbus are having a family night at the Fort Wayne Komets hockey game, Friday, February 9, at 8:00 p.m. All are invited. For more info, contact Brook VandeZande by email at [email protected].

Women’s Care Center

St. Joseph Church family, Thank you for your generous gift to the Women’s Care Center of Northeast Indiana! Our counselors have seen almost 500 women in the first 16 months of opera-tion—this far exceeds our expectations. Your giving makes it possible for us to continue walking with families as they welcome new life. Have a very blessed Advent as we await and welcome Jesus!

Blessings, Sarah Speer Board of Directors Women’s Care Center
