On Easter Sunday, Corpus Christi will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt, in the prayer garden, after the 9:00 a.m. Mass. St. Ladislas will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt after the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Children of all ages are welcome to join in on the fun! Both parishes are accepting donations of small, individually wrapped candy, to be placed in eggs, for the hunt. BI-MONTHLY MASS OF HEALING/MASA BIMESTRAL DE SANACIÓNThe next Bi-Monthly Mass of Healing and Healing Service is set for 6:30 p.m. on March 16, 2020 at Saint Joseph Cathedral. Following the Mass a Healing Service will begin with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Veneration of relics of the True Cross. Each person then will then have an opportunity to speak individually with one of several priests present to discuss their particular situation and receive a prayer of healing; the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will also be available. The Healing Service will conclude with Benediction. All persons who seek Christ’s healing are invited – especially those who suffer with addictions, mental health issues, physical illness and infirmities (e.g. cancer and other debilitating diseases and conditions), in addition to those in seek emotional and spiritual healing. All caregivers, family members, and members of the medical community are invited as well. Bi-monthly Healing Masses take place at Saint Joseph Cathedral on the third Monday of the month, every other month. FROM THE PRIEST:

Would you do a favor for your nemesis (worst enemy) who has treated you terribly? In the gospel this weekend, Jesus did that, and then some (more)!

The Samaritans were a group of people that lived in the middle of Israel between Judaea and Galilee and they were the enemies of the Jewish people; the Jewish people who lived in the rest of Israel had been divided from the Samaritans for many years and did absolutely nothing with each other – not even social contact! If they did confront each other, fights would break out!

Although this may be the case, Jesus treated the Samaritans with dignity and respect. Jesus decided to pass through Samaria and stop at Jacob's well because it was the afternoon and needed a break and the nearest town was a mile away. The problem with the well is it’s over a hundred feet deep and Jesus did not have a rope or bucket to get any water to drink.

Suddenly, a Samaritan woman shows up at the well and they both were surprised to see each other (why would a Samaritan woman walk at least a mile to get water rather than in town).

Jesus did the unthinkable – he reached out to her and treated her like a friend, greeting her and had a conversation with her. This was blasphemous to any Rabbi or the Jewish people of the time, since she was a public sinner and committed adultery! No respectable Jewish person or Rabbi would be caught with her!

Jesus broke through barriers of prejudice and tradition to bring peace and civility to Jews, Samaritans and Gentiles because the gospel is for everyone and no one is excluded from the love of God and His salvation! The only thing that can keep us from that love and salvation is our pride!

Water is also important here because one cannot live a day without water and is a source of growth for any living thing. We see it throughout Scripture (God asked Moses to hit a rock and water came out (Exodus 17)) the image of flowing, living water as a sign of God's wisdom and the water Jesus spoke of is a sign of the Holy Spirit, that helps us breathe new life into us as members of His Kingdom!

May we always thirst for God and may we be filled with the Holy Spirit so the Holy Spirit can help us do God's Will!

• Pray for Pope Francis and all those who lead the local Church, especially Bishop Brennan and the priests of the diocese

• Pray for those affected by natural disasters and acts of violence (those affected by the coronavirus; Turkey; the Middle East; Tennessee)

DEL SACERDOTE:

¿Harías un favor a tu némesis (peor enemigo) que te ha tratado terriblemente? ¡En el evangelio este fin de semana, Jesús hizo eso, y luego algunos (más)!

Los samaritanos eran un grupo de personas que vivían en el medio de Israel entre Judea y Galilea y eran los enemigos del pueblo judío; El pueblo judío que vivía en el resto de Israel había estado separado de los samaritanos durante muchos años y no hicieron absolutamente nada entre ellos, ¡ni siquiera el contacto social! ¡Si se enfrentaran, estallarían peleas!

Aunque este puede ser el caso, Jesús trató a los samaritanos con dignidad y respeto. Jesús decidió pasar por Samaria y detenerse en el pozo de Jacob porque era la tarde y necesitaba un descanso y el pueblo más cercano estaba a una milla de distancia. El problema con el pozo es que tiene más de cien pies de profundidad y Jesús no tenía una soga o un balde para beber agua.

De repente, una mujer samaritana aparece en el pozo y ambos se sorprendieron al verse (¿por qué una mujer samaritana caminaría al menos una milla para obtener agua en lugar de ir a la ciudad)?

Jesús hizo lo impensable: se acercó a ella y la trató como a una amiga, la saludó y tuvo una conversación con ella. ¡Esto fue blasfemo para cualquier rabino o pueblo judío de la época, ya que ella era una pecadora pública y cometió adulterio! ¡Ninguna persona judía o rabino respetable sería atrapada con ella!

¡Jesús rompió las barreras del prejuicio y la tradición para traer paz y cortesía a judíos, samaritanos y gentiles porque el evangelio es para todos y nadie está excluido del amor de Dios y su salvación! ¡Lo único que puede alejarnos de ese amor y salvación es nuestro orgullo!

Lo vemos a lo largo de las Escrituras (Dios le pidió a Moisés que golpeara una roca y salió agua (Éxodo 17)) la imagen del agua viva y viva como un signo de la sabiduría de Dios y el agua de la que Jesús habló es un signo del Espíritu Santo, que ¡Nos ayuda a darnos una nueva vida como miembros de Su Reino!

THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT MARCH 15, 2020

PARISHIONERS:Given the recent actions and statements by government and medical authorities and, additionally, the increase in the number of cases in Ohio, including cases in nearby areas, our parishes would like to take the following steps to be observed:• A suspension, until further notice, of the distribution of the

Eucharist from the chalice/cup. (Receiving the host alone imparts all the graces of the full reception of the Eucharist under both forms.) We also advise that the Holy Eucharist be received in the hand only. Furthermore, following liturgical norms, provisions should be made for those who are unable to receive even a low-gluten host.

• A suspension, until further notice, of the physical sign of peace. People may still, for example, turn to each other and say “peace be with you.”

• Until further notice, holy water fonts are to be changed regularly (emptied appropriately and refilled). As a further precaution, they may be left empty or removed, if this is judged to be prudent and necessary.

• Assure the faithful that if they are sick or are experiencing symptoms of serious illness they are not obliged to attend Sunday Mass, and, out of concern for others, ought not to attend.

• Ask everyone attending Mass to sanitize their hands as they come into church using sanitized gel dispensers. These should be made available at entrances.

• Ensure ministers of the Eucharist sanitize their hands before and after distributing Communion. This can be done by washing hands thoroughly (for 20 seconds at least with soap and water) before proceeding to the sanctuary or using good quality hand gel.

• Ensure regular cleaning of surfaces people touch regularly, including door handles.

• Prayer for those who have died through the illness, for those who are sick, for scientists and for those who work in the medical profession, public officials and all who serve the common good

• Further updates will be given as and when the situation changes.

These Guidelines are based on the various documents issued by the USCCB, Catholic Mutual Group Insurance, the US Government (CDC) and other dioceses or Bishops’ Conferences such as the CBCEW.
