Welcome to the 21st Century Presentation System Tutorial Series. This tutorial will walk you through the steps necessary to connect your Interwrite Mobi tablet to your computer. With the Mobi in hand teachers and students can interact with a projected computer image from anywhere in the classroom.

The Mobi package consists of four essential components. There is the tablet itself and the pen which can be attached to the tablet with an included lanyard. The USB receiver will plug into a computer and allow the tablet to communicate wirelessly with the computer. Finally, there a USB cable for connecting the Mobi tablet to a computer.

The USB cable will allow the Mobi tablet to interact with the computer, but its primary purpose is to charge the Mobi. Keep in mind that the Mobi needs at least 12 hours for its initial charge.

The USB port is located at the top of the Mobi tablet. There is also a space to insert the pen for storage and charging.

The small, trapezoidal plug on the USB cable plugs into the Mobi tablet. The shape of the mini USB plug ensures that it only goes in one way. The rectangle end plugs into a USB port on your computer. Keep in mind that your computer does need to be on in order for the tablet to charge.

The Mobi tablet’s pen is an active pen. This means that it also needs to be charged to operate. Be sure the pen is inserted all the way or it will not charge with the tablet. The tablet and pen need to charge for 12 hours before their first use.

The USB receiver attaches to a computer and provides the wireless communication between the computer and the tablet. The Mobi tablet is an RF device, which means that the tablet and receiver can communicate even if they cannot see each other.

There is a storage compartment for the receiver on the underside of the Mobi tablet. The underside of the tablet also has a sealed battery compartment and a blue button.

In order for the Mobi tablet and the receiver to communicate, they need to be synchronized to the same radio frequency. Synching the receiver and the tablet involves pressing the clear button on the receiver and the blue button on the underside of the tablet.

First, plug the receiver into the tablet. Give Windows a minute to find the receiver and, if necessary, load the software it needs to talk to Windows. This software is already in Windows and will load automatically. When plugged in the clear button on the receiver will give off a steady blue light. Press the button on the receiver and it will begin to blink.

Next press the blue button on the underside of the Mobi tablet. The receiver and Mobi tablet will take a moment to synchronize their radio frequencies. When the process is complete, the button on the receiver will stop blinking and return to a steady blue glow. Give Windows a minute to find the tablet and, if necessary, load the software it needs to talk to Windows. This software is already in Windows and will load automatically.

At this point, the Mobi tablet will be ready to use. With no other software installed, the Mobi will operate much like a wireless mouse. We hope you have found this tutorial helpful in setting up you’re 21st Century Presentation System.
