FRIENDSHIP GARDEN PLAYGROUP Twelve years ago I joined Friendship Garden Playgroup with my daughter Annie who was one month old at the time. It quickly became an important and encouraging group for both of us to be a part of. I made new friends, found encouragement, had a group I belonged to and felt supported as a new mother embarking on this new adventure of motherhood. Annie too made new friends, learnt many things but her favorites were learning how to swing and go down the slides in the playground! She also got to celebrate her 1st and 2nd birthday with friends from the Friendship Garden, what wonderful memories. I remember some mornings going to Friendship Garden feeling so drained, tired and discouraged, but never left feeling that way. Because of kind leaders encouragement and prayer I always left feeling refreshed and cared for. There’s nothing as soothing and reassuring as hearing from another mother: “I understand what you going through or what your child is going through, it’s normal and it’s going to be okay! From those first friendships we made, some have lasted to this day and we continue to find support and friendship many years later. You too can find this kind of support at St Andrew’s as the care and support contin- ues for parents and toddlers. We run Friendship Garden Playgroup twice a week. On Wednesdays (9:30-11:00am) we run a class for parents with children who are 18 months to 3 years old. On Thursdays (9:30-11:30am) we run a class for parents with children who are 1 year to 3 years old. Both mornings are filled with friendly, caring staff/volunteers caring for and teaching parents and toddlers. Parents have the chance to learn more about how to interact with their toddler and support them at home. There is also the opportunity to make new friends and find support. Children have the opportunity to grow socially, mentally and physically in a wonderful safe environment while having lots of fun doing crafts, singing, listening to stories and enjoying snacks. If you want to find out more, please go to our website or phone the church office or sim- ply come along and pop in and find out what it’s like for yourself. The Friendship Garden team looks forward to supporting you and your child. Carol Strydom Children’s Ministry Director Life at St Andrew’s Enquiries or Sign-ups?
