Stress the importance of credits in high schoolIf a student fails a class they fall behind for graduation- different from middle school

• How are Credits Earned?• Every class that is passed with a D or better each semester

earns 5 credits.• Students should be earning 30 credits a semester or 60

credits a year• How many credits are needed to graduate?

• 230 credits needed• How will my student and I know how many credits have been

earned?• Progress reports and final semester grades• Each year counselors deliver two classroom presentations to

walk all students through reading their own transcript and understanding what they need to graduate.

School policy allows level changes up to the first 5 weeks of the semester (only 2 weeks into 2nd semester)• For example: moving from World History

Honors to World History College Prep Elective changes are not allowed

• For example: moving from Woodworking to Drawing and Painting

Teacher changes/requests not allowed

Progress report every 5-6 weeks Final semester grades December and

June. Edline- students will receive code in

their English class Always contact teacher first with

concerns about class and grade• Teacher contact info available on school
