Homework Planners are used for organization. They are kept
in the front section of their binders. Signed by parent nightly.
Binders are organized by subject: Language Arts, Writing, Math, Social Studies and Science.
Daily Basis – Reading 20 min. Homework always due the next day unless noted.
Homework is checked, not graded unless it consists of finishing class work/project.
Usually there will be a math sheet every night, vocabulary, spelling activities, occasional social studies/science worksheets, and projects that need to be worked on at home.
Homework Management Plan
All work started in class is expected to be turned in the following day, unless otherwise stated. If the work is not completed in class, it is to be taken home and completed. If students do not turn in their homework when due, it is considered late and students are given time during break to complete the assignment. If the work is turned in late, that is annotated and student still receives a mark for the work. If the work is not completed, the assignment will receive a zero credit.
When students are absent for the day or even leave early, an absent slip is placed on their desk and all missed assignments are compiled for the student’s return. Absent students are given the same number of days absent to turn in their work.
Common Core Standards Students will be assessed according to the Common Core
Standards. Grades will follow a 3 point rubric scale.
*Learning Level (1): Low Basic (Recall)*Learning Level (2): Basic (Skill/Concept)*Learning Level (3): Proficient (Strategic Reasoning)
Students at this level are successfully demonstrating understanding of the grade level standard. The score of a 3 is what we hope all students will meet by the end of the instruction for each specific standard. Report Cards will be given each trimester. Progress Reports if necessary. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held in November. Friday Folders will be sent home most Fridays with progress
updates on homework, behavior, and assessments.
Learning Level 1: Low BasicStudents are taught the very basic routine procedures.
Learning Level 2: BasicStudents are then taught how to apply the skills and concepts of the standard
Learning Level 3: ProficientStudents are taught how to apply their basic skills to real-world applications
Common Core Learning Levels
Example of Learning Levels
Low Basic: Students can multiply and divide math facts to 100. Basic: Students can multiply and divide fractions.Proficient: Students can apply their learning of multiplying and dividing fractions to real-world problems and explain their reasoning.
Standard: Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to multiple and divide fractions
