How Will I Learn?
Students learn in the classroom and face-
to-face with an instructor. Some CLB 6-8
classes are blended.
How Will I Learn?
Students will need to complete a variety
of tasks in all four skills:
Listening
Speaking
Reading
Writing
How Will I Be Evaluated:
Language Companion
Your instructor will keep some of your
work in a binder called a Language
Companion. If you already have a
Language Companion, please bring it
on your first day of classes.
If you do not have a Language
Companion, your instructor will give
you one free of charge

How Will I Be Evaluated?
o Your WELARC test is a one day test that helps us put
you in a class with students who have a similar level.
With that information we place you in a classroom.
It is not your official benchmark level.
o After you are placed in a class, you will be evaluated
on “what you can do” (performance), not on “how
much you know” (knowledge) or how well you attend.
o Tasks and evaluations are done daily in many ways.
They are based on Portfolio Based Language
Assessments (PBLA).
Learner Progress Reports
and LINC Certificates
Students who complete the program and
meet attendance requirements qualify for a
Learner Progress Report (or Learner
Conference Summary) and a LINC Certificate.
Note: Students in the Part-Time Program, 3
evenings a week, will receive theirs after two
terms.
Learner Progress Report and
LINC Certificate

list. We will try to find a spot for you in the program, but we cannot
promise that will be a seat in the current term.
