Attendance
• Pupils who are absent from school due to sickness must produce a medical certificate (MC) .
• If the reason is non-medical , (e.g. death in the family) , a letter is required.
• Inform the form teacher when child is unable to attend school (SMS, email) .
• The school does not encourage parents to take their children out during term time and they are to check with the subject teachers with regard to the curriculum that their children will miss as well as the work that will be given for reinforcement of what have been covered. Parents have to get permission from the Principal.
Examinations
• No mark will be given when a pupil is absent without medical certificate (MC) . A letter from the parent / guardian will not be accepted in this case unless for valid reasons such as the death of closed relatives (e.g. grandparents) will be accepted.
• For pupils who do not produce an MC, a ZERO will be given for that subject.
• For pupils who has an MC, marks will be pro-rated (for language component, it depends on which is affected). There will be no re-sitting of examination papers for pupils except for oral. An “MC “ will be reflected in the result slip.

Why Not?
Different subjects have: • different levels of difficulty • different spread of marks from the
average mark, i.e. the standard deviation
(spread = standard deviation)

85% 85%
T-Score converts average mark of each subject to a common
score of 50 points. It also converts other marks taking into
consideration the extent to which they differ from the average
and the size of spread of the marks around the average.
Average

Average

What is T-Score?
• It gives the relative position of a pupil’s
performance as compared to the
performance of all the other pupils in that
subject.
• The raw mark obtained in the exam only
shows how good the pupil is in that
subject, not how good he is as compared
to others.
where
X: pupil’s mark for the subject
Y: average mark (mean) scored by all
pupils
Z: spread of marks around the average

How is T-Score calculated for each subject?

Example:
• Pupil’s mark in exam (X) = 50
• Average mark scored
by all pupils (Y) = 68
• Spread of marks around the
average mark (Z) = 14
T = 50 + 10 (50 - 68)

Direct School Admission (DSA)
• DSA-Sec is an admission exercise to allow
participating schools to select some P6 pupils for
admission to Sec 1 based on their achievements and
talents before the PSLE results are released.
• Pupils who have opted for a school under DSA-Sec
exercise must achieve PSLE results that would enable
them to be eligible for admission.
• Refer to MOE website for actual dates, list of
participating schools and application procedure
– http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/dsa-
sec
Option for Secondary School
• In November after the PSLE results
• All PSLE pupils will be given a personalised S1 Option Form together with their PSLE results slip.
• Pupils are to choose 6 secondary schools, in order of preferences
• Parents can submit the completed S1 Option Form either electronically via the S1-IS or physically to their child’s primary school during the S1 Option Phase
Factors to Consider when filling up Option
• Since posting is done based on aggregate
score first, it is important to choose schools
that are comparable to the child’s academic
ability
Reference: School’s assessment
Cut-off scores of schools
(Information Booklet will be given)
Factors to consider
• The Secondary school’s aggregate range of the
previous year
• Academic ability, talents and interest of the
child
• School Values, Culture
• School programmes, CCAs, etc
• School achievements and awards
• Distance from home
• GMSS -the affiliated school

chooses a secondary school as his later choice
e.g. 5th or 6th choices will NOT be put at a
disadvantage as compared to another pupil
who chose the same school as his earlier
choice e.g. 1st choice.
• The pupil who has the better PSLE score will
considered for posting to each of his choices
first.
S1 Posting Method
• The PSLE score range for secondary school are not pre-determined before posting.
• The previous years’ “cut-off-point” for each school is the PSLE score of the last PSLE pupil who was posted to the school.
• Depends on the popularity of the school.
S1 Posting Method
Points to Note
• Update latest home addresses
(give to the form tr)
• Know critical dates so that appropriate
travel arrangement can be made.
