The Cause for Christ

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, by the Power of God, cast into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Sub Tuum Praesidium We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

HURRICANE PRAYER

Our Father in heaven, through the powerful intercession of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, spare us from all harm during this hurricane season, and protect us and our homes from all disasters of nature. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Amen.

It is a privilege beyond words to address you for the first time as pastor of St. Patrick’s. I cannot help but express my gratitude to God for my vocation to the priesthood and to Archbishop Aymond for entrusting to me the pastoral care of the devout souls who call St. Patrick’s their home. Soon after ordination, I began to daydream about what it would be like to become a pastor. One notion stuck with me from those early reflections. I set the goal for myself that among my very first acts as pastor—wherever the Lord would send me—would be some work to honor the Blessed Sacrament. With the help of our Altar Guild, our musicians, and other volunteers, I was able to make this a reality with our Solemn Mass on the Feast of the Most Precious Blood this past Monday. My heartfelt gratitude to all those who volunteered their time and effort for this special Mass! As I begin the administrative responsibilities of being your new pastor, my first priority is compiling an accurate and thorough financial report for your review. Fr. Bozant’s hard work and your generous contributions made great strides to provide for greater financial stability. Mrs. Merington, our office manager, and I will be able to produce the report before the end of the summer. As many of you know, St. Patrick’s and St. John the Baptist have had the tradition of celebrating a monthly Requiem Mass. I am very happy to continue this. For the summer, these will be low Masses. A Requiem low Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 13 at 8am. On July 18, we are blessed to welcome the a children’s choir from Notre Dame University. Please join us that evening at 7pm. Find more information at their website: sma.nd.edu. Till next week, servite Domino in timore!
