Florida Standards Assessment

• A dynamic computer-based test delivery system.

• Students will respond to items in multiple ways, including creating graphs, writing short responses and using other interactive features.

• The various question types are designed to assess higher-order thinking skills and offer exciting new ways for students to show what they know and can do.

• More RIGOROUS

• Not just computation problems but set in a real world environment

• Explain the problem and what you are being asked to do

• Explain the process you are going to use to solve the situation

• Show your work – no calculators – on constructed responses questions (2 points)

• Explain what your answer means in terms of the problem

• Oh yes, and one more part, the correct ANSWER.

General Class Information

• Math Progress reports are sent home every two weeks on Tuesday

• 7th grade class has blue progress reports

• 6th grade class has green progress reports

• If brought back signed by Friday, students will receive 5 extra credit points on next assessment

• Missing assignments can be made up and turned in for credit

• Students will be setup and trained on a new program Monday called PENDA. • They will be assigned a center ID, username

and password

• The software can be accessed on computers/ipads

• The software has been developed to coincide with the new type of state mandated testing

• Check the website next week for pertinent information
