Why IB?• The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a non-

profit educational foundation, motivated by its mission, focused on the student. The three programmes for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. Founded in 1968, they currently work with 3,294 schools in 141 countries to develop and offer three challenging programmes to over 964,000 students aged 3 to 19 years.

• At F.AVE, we focus on the 11 Learner Profile Traits and the 6 Transdisciplinary Themes. (Units of Inquiry, Your child may refer to this as the UOI)

IBO Mission Statement

• The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

• In our classroom, we encourage these practiced traits by recognizing others in the classroom that demonstrate these in our daily actions.

Class Routines• The Communication Folder is sent home on Monday or

the first day of the week that students are at school. • The Student Planner/Agenda should come home each

day! Please ask to see it at home so they get used to this routine.

• A new reading contract will begin each term. I provide time, materials, books, and support for students to complete them. Reading for 30 minutes at home each day will be essential to helping them stay on track.

• Most work will be kept in a portfolio at school. If work is sent home for parents to look at, please return it to school. This portfolio is available for you to look at anytime. We will have shared learning, where parents will be invited to learning celebrations.
