The Del Mar National Horse Show is honored to be recognized as a USEF Heritage Competition, and is proud to be a part of this elite group of shows.
Don’t miss a special presentation by USEF board member, Richard Spooner, Saturday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Evening of Musical Freestyles during Dressage Week.
WELCOME TO THE 75th ANNUAL DEL MAR NATIONAL HORSE SHOWThere is so much to love about the Del Mar National Horse Show, which is celebrating its historic 75th anniversary this year. The show recently was awarded a prestigious United States Equestrian Federation Heritage Show designation. We welcome you to enjoy three weeks of world-class equestrian competition during this iconic event, in the spectacular seaside setting of Del Mar.
Each week of the show brings a new discipline – Western, Dressage and Hunter/Jumper – which makes the Del Mar National Horse Show truly unique. With each field comes an entire crew of specialized judges and staff who are cultivated by a specialty horse show manager. We simply could not put on such a prestigious world-class show without this team of dedicated horse show enthusiasts and sponsors.
This year rated Hunters will take center stage in the Del Mar Arena in the new $25,000 USHJA Hunter Derby. We will also offer new NAL Children’s and Adult Qualifying Classes, new Modified Children’s/Adult 2’6” Hunter/Jumper division and new Short and Long Stirrup Divisions. We want all levels of competitors to enjoy this historic show.
The Del Mar National brings together many of the most accomplished, athletic and revered horse-and-rider teams to compete for coveted trophies and more than $300,000 in cash and prizes. Nearly 1,500 horse-and-rider teams from various countries will compete in the Del Mar National, which runs through May 3, 2020.
Whatever your level of experience is in the equestrian world, we welcome you to watch free classes ringside during the day, cheer on hundreds of the best riders and horses from around the world throughout the week and to be wowed and entertained at our three signature Saturday evening events: Night of the Horse, Evening of Musical Freestyles and the $75,000 Grand Prix of Del Mar.

Healing The emerging profession of equine sports medicine and rehabilitation utilizes innovative therapy methods. BY ELIZABETH ILIFF PRAX
S tall rest. It’s one of the most dreaded terms in the horse world, and yet it’s been the go-to solution for healing horse injuries for years. However, thanks to a new field known as equine sports medicine and rehabilitation, stall rest is finally becoming a thing of the past. Drawing on knowl-
edge and techniques from human physical therapy as well as a deeper understanding of equine physiology and biomechanics, this growing profession, often referred to as equine rehab (not to be confused with the general rehabilitation services rescue fa-cilities provide for neglected and abandoned equines), provides evidence-based treatments for horses suffering from musculo-
skeletal and neuromuscular conditions. In layman’s terms, that means it offers scientifically proven ways to help horses heal from physical injuries and conditions that inhibit their comfort and performance.Equine rehab complements veterinary medicine much the
way that human physical therapy complements human medi-cine. Its methods are used to diagnose and treat both chronic conditions, like back pain, and acute injuries and lamenesses. They also help to speed up surgical recoveries. Certified equine rehab professionals can address anything from tendon and ligament injuries to restricted joint mobility, bone and tissue healing, inflammation, neurological conditions, injury preven-tion and even the effects of aging.Andy Kaneps, DVM, diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, believes this new field is filling a void in the horse world: “In human physical therapy,
Aquatherapy is a common method used for horses recovering from an injury.

Inside a session from the Old Master SeriesBY BETH BAUMERT • PHOTOS BY ANDREA DUCKWORTH
I t was September—time for the Old Master Series that is a regular occasion at Anke Ott Young’s Avalon Farm in North Salem, New York—and the great German educator Hubertus Schmidt was featured. The mission of the Old Master Se-ries is for masters to share their wealth of knowledge gained through their lengthy riding and training careers. Schmidt has ridden 77 horses who have placed in the Grand Prix and 50 of those he started himself. That’s a lot of experience! Young makes these events free to auditors, and proceeds gathered from a silent auction, a raffle and donations go to the Norma Pfriem Breast Care Center. Here are 14 tips worth sharing from Schmidt’s training sessions:
David Collins demonstrates an ideal frame with relaxation and swing in the collected trot. He rides Bojing, a 10-year-old Intermediaire gelding by Benetton Dream/Weltmeyer.

14 Tips from German Olympian Hubertus Schmidt
An amateur eventer learns to have
faith in horses and, ultimately, in herself.
BY EMILY DAILY
The spectators who gathered ringside were
silent as Frankie Thieriot Stutes and Chatwin
entered the arena. The overnight leaders in
the 2018 Dutta Corp. Fair Hill International
CCI*** had more than a rail to spare in
their show-jumping round. As Stutes and the
rangy, jet-black gelding galloped through the finish line at last
October’s competition in Elkton, Maryland, the crowd erupted
into cheers while she pumped her fist in triumph. The amateur
eventer, mother and entrepreneur from Occidental, California,
had traveled across the country with her quirky but talented horse
to win the U.S. Equestrian national championship.

Patience is key when starting
a young horse over fences.
BY HAVENS SCHATT AND
FRED COMMISSAIRE, WITH
TRICIA CONAHAN
Take Your
TIME
Our motto when
starting young
horses over fenc-
es is: Take the
time to let them
evolve to be the
best horses they can be. Bringing along a
young prospect is an amazing and reward-
ing journey, but it must be done through a
slow, methodical, reliable process that al-
lows him to correct his early mistakes and
build confidence. Youngsters thrive in our
structured training program at Milestone;
they all go to the same “school.” Every
day, we try to build a bit of confidence
and add just one more step.
It’s important that a young horse
knows there is a routine: He gets fed at
seven, goes in the paddock at some point
and knows when he gets ridden. We
set our schedule so we can try to keep
the same time frames every day. Young
horses love consistency and the routine
helps to build trust.
The best way to train a youngster is to
listen to him, to ask him to speak to you.
Each day ask him a new question then lis-
ten and see if he can answer. For example,
ask him to lengthen his stride at the trot
or canter, then collect, then lengthen
again. If he can answer your question,
you’re making progress. If he can’t, slow
down and go back a step. Remember that
while you may be applying a structured
process, each horse has his own personal-
ity, physical build, mental ability—and
each horse grows at his own pace.
It can be challenging to be this
patient. The worst thing you can do to
a young horse is be too human: to have
set goals or a schedule for winning blue
ribbons. Don’t impose your own dreams
and timelines on him. Give him the
chance to bloom.
A thoughtful, patient
training program is key
when starting a young
horse over fences. One
of my top hunters,
Aristocrat (shown here),
blossomed over time
and through a confi-
dence-building regimen. SPO

RULES, REGULATIONS & GENERAL INFORMATION
1. THE 2020 DEL MAR NATIONAL HORSE SHOW is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF and PCHA rule books and will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesian performance FR222) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.
2. FEDERATION ENTRY AGREEMENT: By entering a Federation licensed competition and signing this entry blank as the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver, rider, handler, vaulter or longeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the bylaws and rules of the United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the “Federation”) and the local rules of the competition. I agree to be bound by the bylaws and rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the hearing committee on any question arising under the rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/ or the competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cablecasts, or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. The construction and application of Federation rules are governed by the laws of the state of New York, and any action instituted against the Federation must be filed in New York State. (See GR908.4.)
3. ASSUMPTION OF RISK: By signing the entry blank, the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver, rider, handler, vaulter or loungeur acknowledges that horseback riding, particularly jumping, is a dangerous activity and involves inherent risks which may cause serious injury and in some cases death due to the unpredictable nature and behavior of horses, regardless of their training and past performance and expressly assumes all such inherent risks whether identified herein, in the entry blank, or in the federation rules and regulations. A horse, without warning or any apparent cause, can buck, stumble, fall, rear, bite, kick, run, make unpredictable movements, spook, jump obstacles, step on a person’s foot or push a person—all of which may cause the rider or observer to fall or be jolted, resulting in serious injury or death. A horse may also get
loose and cause injury to an observer, rider, or another horse. A loose horse can run at full gallop in a panic and run into objects, persons, or other horses. The show ground facilities are bordered by highways/roads and thus noise from traffic and other sources occurs that can and will cause a horse to unexpectedly spook or react quickly. The show ground facilities contain roads and driveways which are traversed by cars, golf carts, tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment, all of which may spook a horse. The above warnings and potential hazards are meant as an examples of some of the inherent risks which may be encountered. It is understood this is not exhaustive and numerous additional conditions and/or events may result in injuries while participating in the competition and/or being present on the show ground facility.
4. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Every horse entered for competition will be under the control of the Horse Show Management, but Horse Show Management will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Horse Show, its Directors and employees, the 22nd District Agricultural Association, and the Del Mar Fairgrounds harmless for any loss or accident to his or her horses or equipment which may occur from sickness, fire or otherwise. Misrepresentation on the Entry Form shall result in forfeiture of trophy, ribbon, prize money, and possible exclusion from subsequent shows.
5. MANAGEMENT: Horse Show Management reserves the right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of an incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these Rules and Regulations shall be decided by Horse Show Management— their decision to be final. Horse Show Management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally or to cancel any entries, disqualify riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries and cancel award prizes, without claim for damages; to change any course, to cancel or combine any unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes, after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or rotate or change judges and officials; to change specifications in jumper classes in order to facilitate the time schedule. There must be ten or more entries in a class. If not, Management reserves the right to combine or cancel. Management reserves the right to limit entries in a class. Refused entries will be returned. Management reserves the right to combine split sections in Green, Amateur-Owner, Pony or Junior Hunter if fewer than 10 entries are received by closing date.
6. THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED FOR EACH ENTRY: A) One owner and one horse per Entry Form. Form may be reproduced; B) Social Security number and signature of owner or authorized agent; C) Name, mailing address, telephone and signature of trainer; D) Name, mailing address, telephone and signature of all riders; E) Name and age of minor exhibitors and signature of parent or guardian. A trainer’s signature may not substitute; F) Correct description of horse including name, recording number or ID number; G) Applicable membership numbers; H) Please use class numbers from Class List — not Tentative Schedule; I) Incomplete entries will be assessed a $50.00 fee.
6.1. PAYMENT: Include Nomination and Stall Fees as a deposit for each entry. Please make checks payable to 22nd DAA. A signed open check or valid credit card number is required at time of checkin before numbers will be issued.
7. MINOR EXHIBITORS: Parents or guardians of minor exhibitors shall hold the 22nd District Agricultural Association and the Del Mar
www.delmarnational.com HUNTER/JUMPER • 75th Annual Del Mar National Horse Show 2020 36
Fairgrounds harmless for injury to such minor(s). The signature of instructors, agents, or other unrelated persons will not be accepted.
8. REFUNDS: A) Before the closing date of entries, all fees shall be refunded less a $35 office charge; B) AFTER CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES, NOMINATION FEES AND STALL FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE UNDER ANY CONDITION; C) All scratches must be submitted in writing to be considered for a refund; scratches via phone call will NOT be considered; D) In divisions that are entered by complete section, no refund will be considered if the horse shows in any class of the division. The only other refunds given will be cancellation of a class by Management, overpayment of fees or the rejection of entries because of ineligibility or lack of stall space; E) All refund requests must be in writing and received within 30 days of the end of the show.
9. PRIZE MONEY will be paid by check to OWNERS within 30 days of the show’s conclusion. Any prize money paid to someone other than the owner listed on the entry form must be written on the form when submitted. Change of payee will not be permitted at the show. Out of-state residents may have CA state tax deducted. Tax forms and schedules may be requested prior to the show and will be available in the Horse Show Office. NO PRIZE MONEY WILL BE MAILED UNLESS THE OWNER’S SOCIAL SECURITY OR TIN IS LISTED ON THE ENTRY BLANK AND A MATCHING TAX FORM IS SUBMITTED TO THE HORSE SHOW OFFICE BY THE CONCLUSION OF THE SHOW. Unless otherwise stated, prize money will be distributed as follows — Regular classes 1st through 8th place, 30%, 22%, 15%, 10%, 7%, 6%, 5%, 5% unless otherwise stated. Management reserves the right to adjust the prize money of any class if there are fewer than 10 horses entered as of 5 p.m. the day before the class. Classes held with fewer than three (3) entries will not be awarded prize money. The total prize earned will be paid in full to each person or entity that win. All Federal and State taxes will be deducted per Federal and State of California law. While this may change the net amount you receive, it will not change the amount of the prize you actually won. Federal and State taxes vary from person to person based on their residency status. A 1099 at the end of the year will reflect your total prize amount plus any taxes paid on your behalf to either the IRS of California Franchise Tax Board.
IMPORTANT TAX INFORMATION: Federal tax law requires a W-9 from US winners and a W-8BEN from foreign winners claiming prize money totaling $600 or more. W-9 information must match the payee. California tax law requires all non-California winners whose earnings are $1,500 or greater throughout the show must have 7% state tax deducted from their prize winnings. For more information, visit www.ftb.ca.gov.
10. RAIN: In the event of rain prior to the show, it is the rider’s responsibility to call Show Management to determine whether the show is cancelled.
11. RESPONSIBILITY OF PAYMENT OF SERVICES AND SUPPLIES: All owners and exhibitors will be held responsible for any damage incurred by them, their agents, or employees to stalls, buildings and other properties on the show grounds and shall be billed accordingly. All bills for veterinary, farrier services and feed/bedding are due and payable during the Show. Management reserves the right to deduct any unpaid veterinary, farrier and feed/bedding bills from premium money due the exhibitor. Any exhibitor not meeting his obligations to the official Show Veterinarian, farrier and feed/bedding vendor will be termed an undesirable exhibitor and entries from that exhibitor may not be accepted at subsequent shows.
12. RETURNED CHECKS OR CHARGEBACK ON CREDIT CARDS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason, or chargeback on credit cards, are regarded as a serious offense and will be handled according to the following procedure: A $50 penalty will be assessed for every returned check/chargeback or 10% of the face value of the check/chargeback, whichever is greater. Accounts will be given 10 days to be paid in full with cash or cash equivalent or they will be reported to the USEF, PCHA or other appropriate association(s) for further disciplinary action. Checks will not be deposited a second time. Prize money checks will not be released to anyone with an outstanding balance owed from returned checks or declined credit cards.
13. UNPAID CHARGES: Any exhibitor leaving the show with an unpaid balance of entry fees will be billed for these charges and a $50 billing fee may be added to the total due. Until these charges are settled, any prize money due to the exhibitor will be withheld and all further entries of rider and owner will be returned.
14. STABLING (NO EARLY ARRIVALS): All stalls are permanent with Dutch doors. No first bedding included. No straw bedding will be permitted — only shavings. It is strictly forbidden to remove stall doors, hammer nails, or attach anything directly onto concrete blocks. Exhibitors will be fined $100 per violation. Exhibitors will be billed for any damage to property. A $500 fee will be charged if excessive clean-up is required after the departure from the show. Trainers are encouraged to supervise their staff to avoid this fee. Water buckets and hoses with nozzles must be provided by exhibitors. Stalls are $275 if pre-paid with the Nomination Fee by the closing date of entries and $325 if payment is not included by the closing date. Haul-ins are welcome and must be organized with the show office. A fee of $75 per day per horse will be charged for hauling in.
15. ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE: All exhibitors should enter the STABLE GATE on Jimmy Durante Boulevard and proceed to the Stable Manager’s Office for barn assignments. Back numbers and additional exhibitor information will be issued at the Horse Show Office. Horses may not arrive before 8 a.m., Monday, April 27, and must vacate by 8 a.m., Monday, May 4. 21. JUMPER CLASSES: Jumper classes are held in the Del Mar Arena (dimensions 153’ x 317’) and the Durante Arena (dimensions 120’ x 240’). The Del Mar Arena has synthetic footing.
22. JUMPER START TIME: In all jumper classes, competitors will be given 45 seconds to cross the start line.
23. GRAND PRIX: The Grand Prix classes are eligible for the ROLEX/USEF Show Jumping Ranking list and will be held under National standards.
24. SCHOOLING SUPERVISION: Gate stewards are schooling supervisors and have absolute authority to scratch riders who do not follow USEF or appropriate association schooling rules.
25. ANY RIDER OR TRAINER: Failing to leave the ring after the course walk has been closed will result in elimination from the class.
26. NUMBERS: Management will provide a number card for each competitor which shall be worn clearly visible to the judge at all times when in competition. Riders wearing the wrong number or no number at all MAY be eliminated from the class by the judges.
27. CONFLICTS: It is the intention of Management to avoid delays in competition. Competitors with conflicts must arrange their order with the Gate Stewards so that they will not hold up a class. Trainer Conflicts will not be recognized. In any case, a ring will not be held for longer than two (2) minutes for any horse or rider before eliminating the competitor, regardless of conflicts.
28. DOGS: All dogs must be on a leash at all times while on the show grounds. Loose dogs create a serious safety hazard to exhibitors and their horses. Dogs should be kept in the stable area. Loose dogs will be picked up, detained and the owner will be fined $100. Management reserves the right to call Animal Control to have an animal removed from the premises. No dogs are allowed in the seating area. The Del Mar National Horse Show appreciates your efforts in complying with this very important safety policy.
29. VACCINATION INFORMATION: The management of the 22nd DAA and the Organizing Committee of the Del Mar National Horse Show, in consultation with respected veterinarians and local animal health authorities, strongly recommend and urge that all horses attending the Del Mar National Horse Show follow a two-part vaccination protocol consisting of a primary vaccination, followed by a booster 3–6 weeks later. Beginning December 1, 2015, all horses entering the grounds of a Federation-licensed competition must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Should you have any questions, contact the Equestrian Office at (858) 792-4288. GR845 Equine Vaccination Rule 1. At Federation licensed competitions, horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhino- pneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. Documentation should consist of one of the following methods mentioned below. The frequency of vaccine administration should be per the vaccine manufacturers’ or veterinarian’s recommendations. It is recommended that vaccines are administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. 2. In the case
of vaccines administered by a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide documentation from the veterinarian on documenting that the horse in question received the vaccinations; name of the vaccines and date of vaccine administration. 3. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase which is signed by the owner, or agent with care, custody, and control of the horse; name, serial number and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. 4. In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccinations due to a history of adverse reactions, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a letter from the veterinarian stating that the horse in question cannot be vaccinated due to medical concerns and a log of temperatures taken twice daily for the seven days prior to entering the competition grounds. These horses must also have their temperature taken and logged twice daily while on the competition grounds. The log of temperatures should be provided to the Competition Management, steward, or technical delegate when requested. 5. Competition Management may not amend or enhance vaccination requirements without prior approval of the Veterinary Committee. BOD 1/17/15 Effective 12/1/15.
30. MAIL/TELEPHONE: All mail for exhibitors should be sent as follows: c/o Del Mar National Horse Show Office, Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard, Del Mar, CA, 92014. Phone numbers: Show Office (858) 792-4288; Del Mar Fairgrounds (858) 755-1161.
31. JUDGES: It is the purpose of Management to run the Horse Show at the highest possible level of sportsmanship. Management used the utmost care to select judges with broad experience and knowledge. The judges’ decisions in the show ring are their own responsibility and Management accepts no responsibility for those decisions.
32. PROTEST: Any exhibitor lodging a protest must first deposit $200 for a USEF member and $300 for a non-member paid to the Show Secretary, which sum shall be forfeited to the horse show if same is not sustained. Any rider, driver, handler, vaulter, lunguer, exhibitor, owner, agent, trainer, or the parent of a junior exhibitor, or any Life Senior, or Junior member present at the competition may file a protest with the Show Committee of a licensed Competition or the Federation Hearing alleging violation of any Federation rules(s). The protest must contain all information as specified in FR602.1 and must be: A) In writing; B) Signed by the protester; C) Addressed to the Show Committee of the competition at which the alleged violation occurred, or to the Hearing Committee; D) Accompanied by a deposit of $200 if made by a Federation member or the parent of a junior exhibitor member or $300 if made by a non-member (if check payable to the competition or to the Federation): said deposit will be refunded in the event the protest is upheld, and; E) Received by the steward, technical delegate, a member of the Show Committee, the Competition Manager or the Competition Secretary within 48 hours of the occurrence of the alleged violation. WE’RE NOT BLUFFING You’ll be wowed by the spectacular ocean views from the towering bluffs of Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, located just south of Del Mar. There are 1,500 acres of land to explore, which includes eight miles of trails. It is one of the wildest, most undeveloped stretches of land on the Southern California coast.
HOP TO IT San Diego is THE capital of craft brew, with 150+ breweries serving up suds to delight your tastebuds. If beer makes you hoppy, take a peek at sandiego.org/beer to plan your tasting spree.
FLOWER POWER Head north up the coast to Carlsbad to excite all your senses with a trip to the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. You’ll meander through a kaleidoscope of colors in 50 acres of petals overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
FUN IN THE SAND AND SUN Right in the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ own backyard, you’ll find stunning beaches in Del Mar and Solana Beach to explore. Meander down to Del Mar’s Crown jewels – Powerhouse and Seagrove parks, located on Coast Boulevard. These beautiful, grassy hills paint the
bluffs overlooking the ocean with perfect kite-flying and surfer-watching spots. There’s even a kids’ play area that offers the best view from a swing we’ve ever seen!
ALL ABOARD A BOAT OR TROLLEY Whether you’re just visiting, or want to play tourist in your own city, you’ll get a fun overview of San Diego’s exclamation points on a boat or trolley tour. Popular choices include Old Town Trolley Tours, Hornblower Cruises, Flagship Cruises and San Diego Seal Tours.
STAR ATTRACTIONS Art and nature collide at Balboa Park the city’s cultural hub of theaters, museums, gardens and the San Diego Zoo. The area’s rich military and maritime history are the stars of the show at the USS Midway Museum and the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Kid-faves include LEGOLAND Sea World and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

SAN DIEGO ADVENTURES Await Outside the Arena
We know you’re going to love all of the equestrian excitement happening at the 75th Annual Del Mar National Horse Show. But if you have free time outside the arena, here are some suggestions for exploring San Diego, where coastal treasures, entertainment, adventure and relaxation opportunities abound!
Stick close to the Del Mar Fairgrounds to soak in dazzling sunsets and explore the charming seaside villages of Del Mar and Solana Beach. Or head south to trek the bluffs at Torrey Pines Nature Preserve and discover the rich cultural mecca that is Balboa Park.
Thanks to year-round great weather and seemingly endless activities, there are no shortage of ways to experience San Diego’s charm.
