Car Ride Home Questions
Field Museum Coinciding with the opening of Fantastic Bug Encounters! at the Field Museum, campers will become
entomologists! They will explore the hidden world of bugs and learn what makes an insect and insect. While
investigating how bugs adapt and evolve, campers will practice scientific illustration, hold live bugs, and create
a bug of their own invention.
What is an insect? What makes insects different from other types of bugs?
How have insects adapted to better survive and thrive in their habitats? What are some of their features
and how do they use them?
In what ways are insects helpful to humans? Why are they important to study and protect?
Shedd Aquarium Life underwater is very different than life on land. From how animals move to how light behaves – this
underwater world has led to amazing animal adaptations across all animals who call our waterways home.
Campers will explore life underwater and investigate these amazing animal adaptations. Campers will meet
animals up close, explore habitats, and see the world through the lens of an underwater animal.
What was your favorite animal that you met today? What does this animal have that helps them live in
their underwater environment?
What is one way that living underwater is different than living on land? What animal did you explore to
learn this?
Which part of Shedd’s Underwater Beauty exhibit did you like the most - shimmer, color, pattern,
rhythm, or movement? In your eyes, what was the most beautiful animal in that exhibit and why?
Adler Planetarium In celebration of the 50th anniversaries of the Apollo missions, campers will explore the Moon at Adler. They’ll
investigate the technology that made Moon landings possible, create art inspired by the Moon’s beauty, and
search for engineering solutions to space travel challenges! They’ll also see a show in one of our state-of-the-art
theaters and explore Adler’s exhibits.
Would you travel to the Moon like the Apollo astronauts did? Why or why not?
What do you see when you look up at the Moon? Do you see the man in the Moon, a rabbit, or
something else?
Some people think humans will live on the Moon someday. Do you think that will happen? Why would
living on the Moon be a good idea? What would be hard about living on the Moon?

Pick-up / Drop-off Reminders
Drop-off/Pick-up happens in the Field Museum East Lot Bus Loop – Do not exit your car until parked in the area
designated with stars in the picture below.
Morning drop-off is from 8:30am to 9am. Afternoon pick-up is from 3pm to 3:30pm. Please avoid arriving before
these windows begin to assist with traffic management.
If running late, please call 312-692-3367 – there is a $5 fee for every 5 minutes after 3:30PM.
Anyone picking up a camper from camp must have a valid photo ID AND be on our list of authorized signers.
Please check this list with your counselor or call 312-692-3367 if someone else is picking up your camper.
Place drop-off/pick-up placard (received in your email) on dashboard for staff managing traffic to see. This placard
gives you 5 minutes to leave your car in the bus loop to sign your camper in/out. If you need more time, you’ll
need to park in a Museum Campus parking lot or on the street after 9AM.
Look out for Summer Worlds Tour Staff who will be directing traffic into the Field Museum Bus turnaround – be
aware, busses have priority and we may need to ask you to wait or loop around.
The entry line will form in the right lane starting at Field’s bus loop and runs back to the entry of Shedd’s bus loop.
If the line is back to this point, you may be asked to loop around again.
In the event of inclement weather, drop-off will still be at Field Museum in the East Entrance. If there is dangerous,
extreme weather, look for an email directing you to the appropriate drop-off location or call 312-692-3367.
