The Pink Ribbon Day Greyhound Race Meeting that was organised by Central Coast trainer, Raelee Shearer and held at Gosford Greyhound Race Club on Tuesday, 22 September was a successful event raising $11,740.00.

Congratulations to the winner of the feature event on the night, Pink Ribbon Day Stake 2015 which was “All A Miss” trained by Frank Cini and owned by John McJanet. Frank Cini accepted the presentation rug donated by Margaret Dunn, Cessnock GBOTA Branch Secretary and trophy donated by Aah Wow Trophies.

Raelee being a survivor of breast cancer herself knows how important ongoing research and the invaluable work done by volunteers is and hopefully their combined efforts will provide more opportunities to finding a prevention.

Raelee would like to thank the GBOTA Management, Ellen Harris GBOTA Operations Manager and Rachael Harrington Gosford Operations Manager and the Staff from Gosford Greyhound Race Club. A big thank you to the sponsors; Greyhound Products Direct, Greyhounds as Pets, Ladbrokes, Logan’s Chance – Tony Pickles, Mark Pearson – National Greyhound Form, R & B Sandes Whelping Service, Ray Pitstock Real Estate, Rocky Ridge Farm, Sires On Ice and The Greyhound Recorder.

Raelee would also like to express her gratitude to Stud Masters; Carolyn Jones, Jamie Chatterton, Kevin Gordon, John Carruthers, David Pringle, Anthony Azzopardi and Terry Kingcott for their donations of stud services to El Grand Senor, Hostile, Lochinvar Marlow, Magic Sprite, Shakey Jakey and Smooth Fancy. These items were all auctioned prior to the event.

A special mention also needs to be recognised that of Vera Matic and Branko Lezaja for the generous donation of a Cape Hawke x Midori Mai Tai 8 month old pup. Corrie Windle was the successful bidder for the pup at a picket fence price, $1111.00. Corrie has pledged to donate 10% of the prizemoney to Cancer Council NSW once the pup starts racing and Dave & Linda Brown, Black Hill Kennels have kindly agreed to rear the pup and donate the rearing costs to Cancer Council NSW. Corrie is hoping to name the pup “Cape Charity”, one for everyone to watch.

The media; National Greyhound Form, The Greyhound Recorder, GBOTA-Around the Circle, GBOTA website, GRNSW - thedogs website and The Greyhound-Data Team.

A huge thank you to Kayla Sandes for helping out at short notice with the photography for the event in the absence of the on-course photographer.

There were many people who also assisted in making this event so successful, including those who donated prizes for the raffle and volunteers on the night.

Finally, congratulations to the successful bidders of the auction and to all the participants and general public who supported this event. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The funds raised will help the countless women affected by breast and gynaecological cancers. Cancer Council NSW is the only charity that supports women through the entire journey – from diagnosis and treatment, to recovery and life after cancer. So every dollar raised is funding vital research, prevention programs and support services for women. Raelee is hoping that you will continue to support her event in the future.
