A father is a man who loves without cost to his children and
tries to raise them to be fully human creatures with the
abilities to make a difference in our world. Some fathers are
successful, some are not. However, almost all try their best.
This Father's Day, let your dad know that you appreciate all
his efforts.
Strength--Your strength in helping me to tell right from
wrong was a great gift.
Honor--You taught me that to honor myself was a way to
honor the God who made me.
Faith--Thanks Dad for having faith in me, when I was not
sure I had faith in myself.
Love--You loved me even when I did not love myself.
For that I am grateful.
Single fathers usually sit in the back row of their children's
school performances. Fathers who are married usually sit as
close to the front of the audiences, with their spouses.
Why is this?
Well, we all know how important mothers are to the well-
being of a family. However, we as a culture look at single
fathers with a bit of suspicion. Fathers are as important as
mothers are, but offer a different perspective on life and
bring a much needed role in bringing up children. Let us
welcome all fathers today to the front row of our lives and
acknowledge how important they have been,
and continue to be in our lives.
Let us pray...
Gracious God and Father, our first father,
You are the One who has brought us to life in
this world you created.
You created us and everything around us.
We turned away from you and only after
disappointing you did we return your love.
Look with favor on our earthly fathers.
They helped create us in your image.
We have disappointed them, but have come to
realize just how important they are to us.
Bless all our fathers, living and deceased,
with comfort and health.
We bring all their needs to you
and ask for strength so they may live worthy lives.
We ask all this in the name of your Son,
our model of what it means to reverence our fathers.
In Christ's name.
Amen.

will be held after all the Weekend Masses. Please

the Priest Retreat. There will not be morning mass.
I cannot express my excite-
ment as I sit down to write
this bulletin article! Just the
other day I was thinking back
to when I was making the
final decision to enter
seminary at the end of my high school career. I had
thought for a while that God was calling me to be a
priest. No matter how hard I argued with Him, the
calling kept coming back, and finally He wore me down.
And I could not be more thankful! Now, 11 years later,
I am finally writing my first bulletin article as pastor
and I cannot help but be in awe at how 11 years have
flown by so fast! What a long road it has been, but at
the same time it feels so short as it has been filled with
so many blessings!
I was born and grew up in Liberty Missouri. I
am third in line of four children, and we were all
homeschooled at some point in our lives (though, I was
the first to be homeschooled the whole way through).
Immediately after graduating I entered Conception
Seminary College where I received my Bachelor of Arts
with a major in Philosophy. From there I moved to the
Pontifical College Joesphinum in Columbus Ohio where
I earned my Masters of Divinity and a Bachelors of
Sacred Theology.
I spent my year as a deacon at Christ the King
parish in south Kansas City. After being ordained a
priest in 2015 I was assigned to St. Andrew the Apostle
Parish in Gladstone as well as being chaplain of St. Pius
X High School. I stayed in those assignments for two
years before being moved to Our Lady of Guadalupe
Parish in St. Joseph. In January, I also became the
chaplain of the Newman Center at Missouri Western
State University. As I move here to St. Rose of Lima &
St Patrick parishes, I will retain my position as chap-
lain.
So now you have the basic information! The
more personal stuff will come out in later articles, but
more so from the pulpit, as there are no better homily
starters than personal stories! St. Rose of Lima and
St Patrick are going to be a new experience, but one I
know will be a true blessing! The only thing I have
heard thus far is, “You are going to Love St. Rose and
St Patrick” and, “They are all so wonderful up there!”
I look forward to walking this journey to heaven with
you and I am eager to meet each and every one of you!
My door is always open if there is anything I can do
for you! Know of my daily prayers for you, and please
keep me in yours!
God Bless,
Fr. Barlett

Roll Along with Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities clients and those who
come into the welcome center are in need
of toilet paper! Can you imagine not
having the money to purchase this
“essential” because your sewer, water, electric, or gas
bill was so high?
St. Rose of Lima is invited to “roll along” by donating
toilet paper during the months of June and July. Just
bring packages of toilet paper to St. Rose and place
them in the big green tub in the gathering space.
Other hygiene items and diapers are always needed,
also. Thank you for your continued generosity and
outreach to those in need! Questions?
Call Elaine at 816-390-4040.
