interference with our ships. He is also called the “Father of the

Constitution.”

Who was James Madison?

3rd President of the United States whose election was decided in the House of Representatives

because of a tie. He later doubled the size of the United

States with the Louisiana Purchase.

Who was Thomas Jefferson?

President, elected in 1828, who had the Indians removed to

advance the settlement of the West. This became known as the “Trail of Tears,” when he defied the S.C. ruling of Worcester v.

Georgia.

Who was Andrew Jackson?

“Manifest Destiny” President elected in 1844, who wanted to acquire land from Texas to the

Pacific
