guidelines and you’ll soon be up-and-running!

READING/VIEWING DVD This disc is a DVD, and requires your computer to have a DVD

capable disc drive in order to read it. If you are unsure whether your computer is DVD capable or not, you can check

the disc drive drawer for the DVD label.

STARTING THE AD TOOLBOX ™

It’s easy to know your way around The A.D. Toolbox™, especially if you take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the methods below:

A.D Toolbox™ (Main Menu)

Click on a drawer to take you to the appropriate destination.

Tommy Toolbox™

When you click on Tommy, he always takes you back to the Main Menu.

Taxiway Arrow

This takes you “Up” a level. (Ex: If you are in an AC, it will take you “up” to the AC Table of Contents).

Report Pages Click here to create a Compliance Report, which can be typed into on screen, or filled out by hand.

If you find that AutoRun does not start, it may be that your AutoRun feature has been disabled.

1. If you wish to enable it or disable it, there are many ways to do so. Simple type “disable autorun” into Google.com, and several methods will be listed.

2. Another option is to run the program directly from the disc:

a. Double-click on My Computer. c . Double-click on The AD Toolbox.pdf

b. Double-click on the DVD drive.

Be Sure to visit the “What’s New” section on your DVD!

Click the Calendar on the Main Menu to view the latest updates & additions!

What to do with “Expired” DVDs?

Keep them, trash them, us them for coasters - whatever you do, keep in mind that they are expired and no longer up-to-date, rendering them non-compliant.

How do I return to the pages I was previously viewing?

There is a certain button you will use repeatedly when running the program. It is the GREEN Back Arrow or previous view arrow (framed in RED below).

New versions of Adobe® have arrows at the bottom of the screen that look like this:

Their purpose is to take you back to the place you were just looking at, or “previous view”. Click the left arrow repeatedly to “go back”.

If all else fails, just click on Tommy to return to the Main Menu!

and Tommy Toolbox is your tour guide! You’re encouraged to “learn the ropes” by following the videos. You’ll see features you never knew existed!

For this example search, let’s find the airframe A.D.s for a Piper J3C-40. 1. Click on “A.D.s & Type Certificate Data Sheets”

2. Click on “Small Aircraft”

3. Click on “Piper” in the bookmarks along the left side of your window.

4. Click on “Piper J3C-40” in the center of your screen.

5. This will take you to the AD List for that model Piper.

Our Standard Appliance Report generator requires creating a separate compliance report for each AD that applies. All Appliance ADs have been arranged in a single list, by category such as: “Avionics”, and then by individual component type, like “Altimeters” or “Auto Pilots”.

If you prefer a more Advanced User process, please click on the "Interactive Appliance Tool" icon at the top of the “Appliances for Small Aircraft” menu.

** Note: On some computers the Interactive Appliance Tool may take up to a minute or so to open.

When the Appliance Tool program launches, the following screen will appear. All of the nearly 400 Appliance ADs have been grouped by Category and Subject, and are in the identical order as our Standard Appliance Report.

In the “Add to Report” column, mark any AD with “Yes” to include it in your report.

Clicking on the gray “Sum”, Std”, or “FAA” buttons will take you to the different report styles.

As a New Feature, we’d like to help you become familiar with the Interactive STC Tool.

The STC Tool is a database of all current STCs, where you can Search, Sort and Report.

1. Click on the STCs Drawer 2. Click the “Launch STC Tool” button when this window appears:

The First Screen that will appear is the Intro Page If you click on the MAIN button at the top which gives pointers on how to navigate the STC Tool: of the Intro page, it will take you to

the entire STC Listing:

The Main Layout is best for doing searches and reviewing your results. The Intro Button will return you to this Introduction Page when clicked.

Understanding the Flip Pad is key to navigating through the STC data. Clicking the panels of the Flip Pad will page through the "Found" STC records when you are in the Main or Report Layouts/Views. The example to the left shows: The total number of STC records (36,074). The number of records found by a search (4,478).

Different Layouts/Views are Available by clicking above the Flip Pad. This is how you navigate to this Introduction page, the Main or Report pages, and the Label layout. When in "Find" mode, all the fields will appear blank. Next you enter what you are looking for in any field(s), and push either your "Enter" Key, or click on "Find". Use Print to Create a Paper Copy of your search results. Pay close attention to whether you choose “Records being browsed” or “Current record”.

“Records being browsed” could print up to 36,000 pages! We suggest choosing “Current record” when printing.

Use "Show All" to make all records available again, after a "Find" has reduced the number of records found during a search.

SUBSCRIPTION TERM Terms vary between 6 months, 1 year or 2 years.

RENEWALS Your subscription will not automatically renew unless you request it. Near the end of the Term, a Notification of Expiration will be sent to you as a reminder to renew, to prevent interruption in service and compliance.

Accessing Click here to create a Compliance Report Form, which can be typed into on screen, or filled out by hand.

Fill-In Forms Use your mouse or tab into the form fields. Type into any line you’d like to fill in.

Saving (only with Adobe Acro-bat®)

IMPORTANT: When you save your file, be sure to save it either on the Desktop or in a Folder you designate. DO NOT “replace” the current file, or you may not be able to retrieve it later.

Printing (with Adobe Acrobat® or Reader®)

Print the pages as you would with any other program. Your printed form will look identical to the screen view.

Within each AD List, there is an AD Compliance Report feature that allows you to record any work, related to each AD within that list. There is also a Blank Report feature available, if you wish to create a customized Report.
