How to Join New Members are received in the following ways: As a new believer professing faith in Christ By expression of existing faith in Christ By transfer of membership from a sister church. Those wishing to join can come forward during

the hymn of response or contact the senior minister.

Baptism Policies Baptism is a testimony and witness of a person’s decision to accept Christ as their Savior, thus baptism is an important part of a new believer’s covenant with God. New believers and persons who request baptism at First Baptist will receive baptism by way of immersion. Persons who have received baptism in another Christian tradition will also be welcomed and celebrated.

The banners behind the choir contain symbols of our faith. The Greek letters, Alpha and Omega, remind us that God is “the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Rev. 22:13). The Ichthys or fish symbol is an acronym (ΙΧΘΥΣ) for the name of Christ. The dove reminds us of that “the Holy Spirit descended on him (Jesus) in bodily form like a dove.” (Luke 3:22). The three overlapping and intertwined circles is a symbol for the Trinity, the Three in One. The Lighting of the Candles sym bolizes the Spirit’s presence in our worship and in our lives. Today’s acolytes are Christine Pang and Davis Swann. Worship is planned each week with the following foundational understandings: (1) We gather to celebrate God’s presence in our joys and in our sorrows, through our times of pleasure and through our times of pain. (2) God is the audience of congregational worship. (3) The congregation and worship leaders are participants in this experience, not simply spectators. (4) Worship is a verb; it is something we do, not something done for us.
