Western BACE

Natural Parklands More than a quarter of Atherstone is dedicated to open space. This includes a 100 hectare regional park, hiking and bike trails, ovals, gardens and the native Toolern Creek. Over 8 hectares of Atherstone will be preserved for waterways and wetlands.

Active Outdoor Lifestyle As well as the many integrated walking and cycling paths and open spaces, Atherstone is home to the state-of-the-art $11.3 million Bridge Road Sports Precinct. This new community sports facility includes an athletics track and facilities and is home ground for the Melton Mustangs Hockey Club. All the facilities are under lights and open to the public and include a club house with changing rooms and a canteen.

Better for Business The Atherstone community has been designed to facilitate local small business. There are already 50 registered home businesses in Atherstone and free wifi is available in some communal spaces.

Over 25 commercial operators run their businesses out of Atherstone at the Western BACE – a shared office space where you can rent a warehouse, commercial shopfront, meeting room or even just a hot desk. Western BACE also facilitates a business mentorship program to offer support to new business tenants trying to get their companies up off the ground.

For those still commuting out of Atherstone for work, the new $6.1 million Abey Road Bridge provides an easy access point to the Western Freeway and Melton train station. A train station and bus interchange has been announced and is due for completion in late 2019.

This includes a natural creek corridor, architecturally designed adventure playgrounds, football ovals and pitches, a sports pavilion and tennis courts. Special care has been take to ensure the protection of the well established native river red gums and grasslands to encourage biodiversity and protect local fauna.

Easy Accessibility The Cooper Street access point to the Hume Freeway is only 6 kilometres from Aurora. Construction has already begun on the “diamond interchange” – a road upgrade that will include entry and exit points on to the Hume Freeway from O’Herns Road. This major roadworks project has seen $81 million pledged by state and federal governments.

Aurora is well connected to the Hume Freeway and local train stations via bus routes. These connections provide fast access to Melbourne and beyond.

6 Star Green Star Rating

In 2015 the Aurora community was the first in Victoria to be granted a 6 Green Star Rating by the GBCA (Green Building Council of Australia). Harpley is just over 35 kilometres from central Melbourne with multiple ways residents can commute stress free. Harpley will have future direct access to the Princes Freeway. Melbourne’s western suburbs (including Werribee) will receive eight major road upgrades to increase accessibility and shorten commute times. Harpley is a short drive to Wyndhamvale and Werribee train stations with direct access to Southern Cross. In 2017 an additional 23 new trains were added weekly on this line. Future changes to the timetable could see even more trains added to the timetable.
