Complete the character sketch warm-up—Please be prepared to share your answers!
Character Body Map Choose a significant dynamic character (yourself) and create a body map to reveal essential ideas. Use the body outline given, and complete each statement below (in list form) as it applies to you, in the proper location on the shape. Try to limit your answers to nouns and adjectives.Head – What does the character think about? Eyes –What memorable sights affect him/her? How?Ears –What do others say about the character? How does it affect him/her?Arms – What are the character’s achievements? Stomach/Gut—What are the character’s personal beliefs/values? Hands and Legs –What conflicts/obstacles/challenges does the character face (and overcome)? Heart –What does the character desire? What are his/her goals? Feet– Where is the character from and where is he/she going (metaphorically)?
Let’s get to know each other!
Now let’s pass around our character maps
You must add a synonym to at least two words on each map
Then, we’ll share what we have
Yeah!
We have just introduced character elements (literature) while learning about each other, reviewing nouns/adjectives and expanding our vocabulary.

Don’t be afraid of the pacing document, it is based on the fact
that any teaching item has three stages
Presentation
Practice
Production
School Documents
Site-based pacing guides
In-common lesson plans
Your Goal is to use all the resources to create student centered,
integrated Unit Plans
Why the Integrated Unit Plan?
A Good Lesson…
Is based on the standards and what students need to know
Addresses various learning styles and levels
Is developed to address real-world concerns of the student
Start with the standards/pacing
You need to take the state SOLs and county pacing guide and sort it into nine-week or even four-week parts
You want to go from this…
To this…
And if you are crazy like me, to this…
