Complete 40 hrs of Community Service by end of first semester!

Online class deadline is last day of 1st semester!!! Transcripts must be in our office by that date! Any classes required for graduation that we don’t have your official transcript in by that time will be put in your schedule even if you are mostly/partly done.

Computer Essentials is NOT required anymore!!

California Community Colleges Application Time Line

Early March - April Complete Online Application English/Math Assessment (determines which English/Math

course you are able to take)

Orientation (And few other steps that they request)

Registration Date (which is the date that you are able to pick classes)

Palomar College and some other with EAP- Early Admissions Programs – Early March through April – start early and know the deadlines. Palomar deadline for EAP is April 30th, no exceptions.

Other Community Colleges – Online Application and Assessment over required onsite at the College unless you took SAT or ACT and score is high enough.

Mid- April thru Registration Date Meet with Community College

Counselor to work on you Course Plan based on you major and/or University goal after community college.

Register for classes on your registration date. Delaying as much as a day may lead to not getting classes you are requesting and may add to the number of semesters that you will have to attend. You can have the section numbers identified ahead of time to be able to enter them on your date.

Costs Your cost of attending a community college will involve books and transportation since most students continue to live at home. Students will pay a per unit fee, at this time the fee is $26 a unit. Additional fees include health, student representation, ID card, and parking.

Letters of Recommendation - Complete Letter of Recommendation Packet in Naviance. Identify what colleges and scholarships will require them. Ask recommenders ASAP and definitely minimum of 3 weeks prior of the deadline!!!

Identify SAT/ACT scores needed for CSU/UC and other University minimum eligibility. Prepare as needed for tests to achieve those scores.

Compare your GPA/Test scores with the Freshmen Profile of average admitted students for the universities on your list to determine which are Safe, Competitive, or Reach schools for you. Min. of 2 Safe schools!!

Remember Safe Schools - most UC’s/some CSU’s NOT safe!

Athletics) – Create an account, register, and send official transcript including 9th-11th grades. You will need to send a final transcript as well. Complete your course worksheet for Div you are pursuing – your counselor can help w/this!

Senior Timeline February/March Palomar College– Application time frame to

meet EAP Early Admissions Program – starts early March and must have Application and Assessment completed by April 30th to get EAP which gives priority registration to help get in classes of your choice. Some other Community Colleges have the EAP program in this time frame as well.

MSJC – Application timeframe is in April with Application, Assessment, Orientation workshops at GOHS – many students don’t take advantage of this and don’t get set up for Fall admissions!!!

Senior Timeline March – April Admissions Decisions - will appear in

student’s Portal/My College account and some through email by early April.

Sign up for and complete all required Placement Tests by the deadline that is listed in the student’s Portal/My X Campus area.

Local, National, and College Scholarship process and applications still ongoing.

SAR – Student Aid Report & Award Offer from each College that student applied to that will have the amount of Financial Aid that will be awarded – grants, scholarships, loans, work study, etc and the Family’s EFC – Expected Family Contribution – amount they expect you to pay. Negotiate??? Compare??? and Decide !!! To be able to complete the Intent to Enroll to the college that student will attend by May 1st Deadline (verify this deadline in the Portal area!!!)

May 1st Deadline for Intent to Enroll through the student’s Portal/My College area!!! Miss this deadline and your not going! Often require a deposit to be paid by a deadline!!!

Requirements - 1. appts with CC Counselors, 2. Registration Date – pick class as early as possible that day, 3. Pay the Course Fee by the deadline!

Check Portal/My College account to see if you have to sign up for summer orientation

If Portal/My College account says your missing something, yet you sent it – Call them to verify & re-send it if necessary – don’t assume they will get it/didn’t lose it.

Senior Timeline May – June Complete all required Placement Tests by the

deadline that is listed in the student’s Portal/My X Campus area.

Local, National, and College Scholarship finishing.

University Admissions and Housing Deposits/Fees need to be paid by deadlines!!!! If these are missed they can rescind your admissions.

Final Transcripts must be sent through Parchment on GOHS Homepage via the Order Transcripts link under Quick Links. It is the students and parents responsibility to get this done before the deadline stated in student’s Portal area. Missing this deadline will lead to admissions being rescinded & loss of deposits!!!

Huge issue every year – some students don’t get the transcript in by college or NCAA Eligibility Center deadlines.

How do I request final transcript? Towards the end of second semester go onto GOHS Hoempage and select “Order Transcripts” under Quick Links on upper left. Complete parchment – entering your college name/number and if Div 1 or 2 Athletics then send one to 9999 for NCAA Eligibility Center also. The very last step asking – “Send Transcripts at the end of the next grading period” or send them now” - which do you select – answer on next slide.
