LJUBLJANA CASTLE: PEEK INTO THE COLOURFUL PAST AND TASTE TIMELESS CUISINETake the guided Time Machine tour in the Ljubljana Castle and hear the tales

of witnesses to history: a Roman soldier from the Emona era, Frederick III of

Habsburg, who commissioned the castle in its present-day location in the Middle

Ages, a soldier in Napoleon’s army from the time of the Illyrian Provinces, and

even visionary mayor Ivan Hribar, who bought the castle from the government

in 1905 and immediately started planning its current form and function. The

rich castle history has born witness to much change and development of the

city, which can be admired from the scenic Archers’ Tower. Here, you can also

taste the city’s history: the Strelec Restaurant menu reflects its location at the

crossroads of the Alps, the Adriatic and Pannonia. It interlaces flavours of the
