20 YEAR NOE INFORMATION
• 20 year letters are ran around the 15th of each month, they are printed for the previous month (ie January letters are printed in February)
• They are sent out certified mail, so they require a signature upon delivery.
• If a SM wants to retire right after they hit 20 years, the unit can request a Creditable Service Memorandum to be include in the retirement packet request, in lieu of the 20 year letter. (In this case, their 20 year letter would be mailed out the month after they actually hit 20 years of service.)
• RCSBP’s are sent out with the 20 year letters. If the SM doesn’t return the RCBSP within 90 days of receipt, we will do an automatic election based on their dependents status in DEERS. The best method of returning the RCBSP is through their unit, so the unit can submit it to my RPAM container in iPERMS and I can get it coded in IPPSA. If they send it in the mail and we do not receive it within the allotted time frame, an auto-election will be done.
• 20 year letters are also put in the SM’s iPERMS record. It is recommended that they download their iPERMS files to a disc before they are discharged.
