What is the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT)?

• A member association of the Water Environment Federation, which encompasses an international network of over 40,000 water environment professionals.

• A professional organization consisting of 1,500 members

What is WEAT?

• An open association of water environment professionals, practitioners, operations specialists and public officials with a broad range of expertise working together to:– Meet the needs of its members for professional

growth and development– Educate the public on water environmental

issues– Benefit society through protection and

enhancement of the water environment.

Who are Young Professionals?

• Individuals under 35 years of age that serve the water environment industry and that are employed by or study with utilities, consulting firms, regulatory agencies, or academic institutions.

Requirements to form a Student Chapter

• Must have President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Membership Education Director, and all must be WEAT members

• Must follow By-laws set by WEAT

Qualifications for Joining

• WEF online service available to college and university students enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours

• Students must provide written documentation verifying status, signed by advisor or faculty member, on school letterhead 30 days from subscribing to online service

How to join WEF/WEAT?

• Go to www.wef.org

• Fill out the membership application

• Send a check for $15
