There are 3 levels of text. Read through them and choose your level of challenge. If you are unsure about your level then ask your teacher via email.

TASK Cloze Reading *, ** or ***

Reading Task 3: Read TheoryLog in | ReadTheory

WritingWe are learning to write a procedure. Procedures are written to tell people how to do something. The example below tells us how to make recycled paper. The first picture shows the procedure split into the 4 sections.

1)Title

2)Goal

3)Materials

4)Steps

The second picture highlights the language features within a procedure.

Last week you created a " how to" art book using the book creator app on your i-pad.

Task

This week we would like you to create another "how to" guide using the book creator app. You can choose what the subject is. Below are a few examples:

-How to create a Lego model

-How to build a bird feeder

-How to send an e-mail

-How to create a gingerbread house

-How to ride a bike

-How to complete a trick on your scooter.

These are only some examples to get you thinking. You may use your own ideas if you like.

PlanningUse the planning page below to make notes for your procedure.

Remember your notes should not be written in full sentences and this should not be your final copy.

Your planning page should just contain your ideas in the right order.

Have you included all five success criteria?

Have you checked and edited spelling and grammar errors?

Think about what your next step would be. E-mail your finished writing to your teacher along with your next step.

H&WB Task 2 - First AidFirst Aid - Broken Bones

A break or crack in a bone is called a fracture. In the case of an open fracture, the broken bone may pierce the skin surface. But in a closed fracture the skin around the fracture is intact.

Click on the link below to learn more about broken bones. Remember you can highlight the text and listen to the information using your read back function.

https://kidshealth.org/en/kids/broken-bones.html

If someone has a broken bone they will need medical treatment. To help you should shout for an adult or phone 999 if a trusted adult is not nearby. Until help arrives there are some things we can do to keep them safe and comfortable.

Click on the link below which will take you to the British Red cross website. There is a video on this page which shows you how to look after someone who may have broken a bone. Watch this video.

Teach Children First Aid for Broken Bones | First Aid Champions (redcross.org.uk)

Part A

Create a comic strip to show how you would support someone who has fractured their bone. This should highlight what you can do to make someone comfortable while you wait for medical support. Remember to set the scene and say how the person broke their bone. You could use the bike accident example form the British red cross video. You will need to answer the following questions through your comic strip.

1)How did the person break a bone?

2)How are the being supported?

3) How are you calling for help?

4) How does it end and where does the help come from?

Send this to your teacher via e-mail

Part B

Work with someone in your house hold to act out your comic strip. Someone could take on the role of the person who is hurt and someone should take on the role of the person who is helping and providing support.

H&WB Task 3Click on the sound clip below to hear Mrs Brown read over the task.

This activity will let you relax whilst working on your design and drawing skills. The film we have suggested is Charlie and the chocolate factory this week so our tasks relate to this. The three tasks are below

1. Draw Willy Wonka by Quentin Blake. (The illustrator of Roald Dahl books)

2. Draw an Oompa Loompa by Quentin Blake.

3. Design a brand new sweetie which could be made in the chocolate factory. Draw a picture of your sweetie and include labels to tell us what it would taste like and why it is special.
