A slightly shorter entry this Wednesday and a degree of pessimism in the trade with Easter around the corner
for an SQQ of 193.64p/kg.
M/s WG & SW Jones topped the kilos with their Texel 43kgs at 216p/kg (£93.00), R G Bunce & Son followed
at 210p/kg with M/s Connell and Randall at 205p/kg. Richard Howlett, J Hanson & Son & M/s Curtis all sold
at 200p/kg with Giles Philp & Partners at 199p/kg.
Heavy hoggs topped at £96.00 from Charlie Randall, WG & SW Jones sold at £95.80 and £95.00. Richard
Howlett, M/s Curtis, Oliver Bowden and James Gibson all sold at £95.00.
The first pen of spring lambs this season weighing 31.5kgs for Kate Waddington sold at 208p/kg.

An excellent show of cattle this week a real credit to the producers! Trade continues to be firm despite falling
beef prices at this time.
Mrs Marcella Seymour topped the day with her pen of 9 homebred Simmental steers at £1290.00 and
£1140.00 at 20 months. M/s Hiorns and Son, Barford sold their Simmental X at £1080.00, £1072.00,
£1070.00 and £1030.00. M/s Hayes at £1008.00.
Aberdeen Angus X steers sold to £1120.00 and £1050.00 from M/s Williams, Bradden. Mr S Fisher sold at
£1065.00, M/s Nixey £1055.00 and B & D Haynes £1012.00.
M/s Hiorns topped the Charolais X at £1078.00, £1070.00, £1068.00 and £1030.00. M/s Evans sold at
£1030.00. 12 month steers sold at £880.00 from Roughwood Farm.
Limousin X from M/s Hayes sold at £1068.00, J Hanson & Son sold to £1030 followed by Alan Saw £935.00
at 12 months.
Peter Morris sold his run of Blonde X steers to £1032.00, £1002.00 and £1000.00.
Hereford X steers topped at £1032.00 for a pen from Mr Fisher, M/s Hiorns sold at £1030.00. A run of 18
month steers from Mervyn Alderman topped at £968.00 and £955.00. 12 month outwintered from Joseph
Eeley & Son sold at £870.00 and £818.00.
M/s Hayes, Cockpole Green topped the heifers at £1145.00 for their British Blue X with others at £958.00
and £930.00.
Edmund Greaves stole the day with two pens of smart Limousin heifers 12 months at £940.00 and £930.00.
M/s J Hanson and Son sold 15/16 months at £925.00 and £915.00.
Peter Morris sold 16 month Blonde X to £970.00. Marcella Seymour sold her Simmental at £1020.00 with
M/s Hayes at £940.00 along with M/s Hiorns who sold their run of Charolais X at £965.00, £930.00 and
£925.00.
Aberdeen Angus X from M/s Evans topped at £918.00. Feeding Cows sold to £900.00 and £810.00 for
Charolais X from Gordon Turner.
Store Sheep – 108 Forward
Store lambs are still a very wanted commodity as the fat trade remains positive. Messer’s DJ & AEM Barlow
sold Continental X ram lambs to £68.00 with mixed lambs of the same farm to £65.00. A run of Black Welsh
Mountains from the Hartley’s sold well with ewes at £38.50 and a pen of 36 store lambs to £52.50.

A few less placed this week with one outlet cancelling a load. Larger numbers of finished cattle are available nationally and a reduction
in weight will mean young bull slaughtering’s will be pulled forward and not forgetting two short weeks the job looks a bit troubled for
a minute or two. R grades 325-331p/kg. Best continental heifers to 337p/kg. Shorthorns to 347p/kg, Herefords to 345p/kg and
Aberdeen Angus 340-365p/kg.

British Blue X Holstein steer leads this week at £1524 for U+3. Some grand Charolais bullocks with R3’s to £1435, –U4L to £1418,
R3 to £1411. Blondes to £1424 (R2) and £1351 (R3). Simmentals to £1417 (U+3), £1413 (-U3) and £1352 (-U3). Fitter British Blues
to £1414 (-U4L). Some tremendous Shorthorns placed with (O+4H) to £1341, R4L to £1319 and O+4L to £1272. Herefords to £1393
