Conformance Checking vs Process discovery C.C uses model and event logs as a start point. Techniques and Metrics Conformance checking techniques are based on the principle of Replay. The event log is replayed on the process model. Conformance Metrics are: Fitness: Perfect Fitness: all traces in the log can be relayed by the model from beginning to end. Case Level: fraction of the traces in the log can be fully replayed. Event Level: fraction of events in the log that are indeed possibel according to the model.

Weekly Report Week 1430 /03 to 02/04/2015 Finalise methodology using ProM 6.2 part 1

This is report is just to help me to write the final report, please do not consider it as part of the final work once this short piece of paper is very superficial and it is not formatted as a formal academic work.

1. Some useful notes to be in the final reportConformance Checking( C.C) process mining technique which compares an existing process model with an event log of the same process.Conformance Checking vs Process discoveryC.C uses model and event logs as a start point.Techniques and MetricsConformance checking techniques are based on the principle of Replay. The event log is replayed on the process model.Conformance Metrics are:Fitness:Perfect Fitness: all traces in the log can be relayed by the model from beginning to end.Case Level: fraction of the traces in the log can be fully replayed.Event Level: fraction of events in the log that are indeed possibel according to the model.

Simplicity: the simplicity the simplest process model that can explain the behavior is the best model. The complexity, of model could be defined by the number of nodes and arcs,FINTNESS AND SIMPLICITY ALINE ARE NOT ADEQUATE AS METRICS,

2. Using Conformance CheckerVersion ProM used: 5.2Important: Conformance checker plugin no longer exist on the later ProM versions.Screenshots of manipulating examples provided by the conformance checker webpage.

Opening the file:This phase here is the association of the log with the model. Files: logs in .xml and model in .pnml

Model associated with logs:

Preparing the model and the log for analyses.

Why did it work now and not previously? Two things we were doing that made us not get our work completed. The first one was the ProM version used. The conformance checker plugin is not longer available on the version 6 or later ones. I could not find anything on the Internet that says this officially but I concluded it by testing. To say that I tried all available ProM versions and the only one that the plugin worked for me was the 5.2 one. The second one was the data format. I tested the examples provided by the website and all they worked as we can see on this small report. Lookingt at the outside format they are exaclty the same as those we were using on our project, however our files did not work. I will have a look at xml of the our data and compare them to the example and then adapt if is necessary.Tasks for week 15 Finalise methodology using ProM 6.2 part 2 Analyse xml files and see how they are structured Go deep in each result provided by the plugin, understanding it and how it can be used in different situations.
