Brethren, Christ is our peace, Who has made us both one, and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the Cross, thereby bringing the hostility to an end. And He came and preached peace to you, who were far off, and peace to those who were near; for through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, in Whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in Whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Saint Luke (18:35-43) At that time, when Jesus drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging; and hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” And he cried, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped, and commanded him to be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me receive my sight.” And Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, glorifying God; and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

THE SYNAXARION On December 1st in the Holy Orthodox Church we commemorate the holy and glorious Prophet Nahum.Longing doth draw me to anoint with the myrrh of discourse Nahum the Elkoshite, who

hath yielded up his spirit. On the first, Nahum was conveyed out of life. Nahum was born of the tribe of Simeon in a place called Elkosh on the far side of the Jordan. He lived about seven hundred years before Christ and prophesied the destruction of Nineveh about two hundred years after the Prophet Jonah had warned the Ninevites. Because of Jonah’s preaching, the Ninevites had repented, and God had spared them and not destroyed them. In time, however, they forgot God’s mercy and again became corrupt. The Prophet Nahum prophesied their destruction, and since there was no repentance, God did not spare them. The entire city was destroyed by earthquake, flood and fire, so that its location is no longer known. The Prophet Nahum lived for forty-five years and entered into rest in the Lord, leaving us a small book of his true prophecies. On this day, we also commemorate the Venerable Philaret the Almsgiver of Amnia; Martyr Ananias the Persian; and Theoklitos, archbishop of Lakedaemonia. By their intercessions, O Christ God, have mercy upon us. Amen.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the entire 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Miraculous Weeping Icon Committee. The entire team of leaders and volunteers who worked together to bring their talent and gifts to the table made this weekend a success and a true celebration for the entire community. To those who attended services and events, to those who set up and cleaned up, to the voices, the artists, the decorators, the sponsors, the drivers, the faithful who participated in any way, this weekend was the culmination of an entire community coming together for one purpose, the veneration of the bearer of God, who wept for us 25 years ago. We have seen that all things are possible through her intercessions and our community will continue to be blessed and miracles will continue to be bestowed on this community when we all believe and work together side by side with faith for the future.
