The name “prayground” comes from Rev.Catherine Renken, pastor of KirkwoodPresbyterian Church in Kennesaw, GA whobrainstormed with others when the prayground atGrace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, MN wasbeing built. The name has caught on!

Though different churches have put it in topractice in different ways, a prayground is aplace in the front of the sanctuary where youngchildren can experience worship through age-appropriate worship materials and tools that willhelp keep them engaged in worship.

Q. Why is ours a joyground?A. Just to be different. And because of the joyousexperience we can have worshipping togetheracross all generations. And, it's a nod to ourjoyground leader, Joy Fortenberry, who is excitedabout this new phase of ministry and will beinstrumental in its implementation.
