Dear Family,

It’s a new year for LifeGroups at FBC. I hope you are a part of

one of these small groups. Whether you choose, Sunday

morning LifeGroups or Wednesday night LifeGroups or a

weeknight LifeGroup or even a combination of the three, you can’t go wrong with these discipling opportunities. Growing in

faith, encouraging and praying for one another, and just doing

life together can mean a world of difference in your faith life. Be

looking for a brochure this weekend of the opportunities for

you. So join one, two or three today. See me if you have

questions or just do not know where to go. Be blessed and see ya

Sunday.

Still Going,

Mike

If you are interested in helping in Awana, but would like more

information OR if you have volunteered to help in Awana,

please plan to attend the Awana Informational and Training

Session on: Thursday, August 28 @ 7:00pm.

Awana will begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 6:15

to 7:45pm. Please prayerfully consider volunteering to be a part

of the Awana Ministry. Here are areas that YOU can volunteer:

Music Teacher for Worship – Lead Awana children in worship

song each week during worship time from 6:15-6:45 pm.

Listeners - Adults to listen and assist children in working

through their Awana books to memorize and recite Bible verses

and books of the Old and New Testament.

Awana Preschool Teachers are needed for 2/3's (Puggles)

and 4/5's (Cubbies).

To volunteer or for more information, contact Karen Barr,

(803)554-1968 or email [email protected]. Thank you!

Church Library News:

Several months ago Pastor Dave suggested we read

PEACE CHILD by Don Richardson. I finally did. Don Richardson and his wife Carol were missionaries

to the Sawi people in New Guinea. The love and

forgiveness illustrated in the book exceeds all other

books including The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.

As you read the first 5 chapters, you may wonder what this has to

do with love, forgiveness, compassion or anything good. To understand the extent of love and forgiveness shown, you need to

know the culture of the people involved.

Don’t give up and miss the climax of the story. Be persistent as

the missionaries were and as the Bible teaches us.

Knox Bennett

Reminder:

Wednesday night meal will resume on

September 3rd. We will use the previous

standing reservation list, so there is no need to

call if you are already on the list. If you would

like to sign up to be on the list or if you need to

cancel your previous standing reservation,

please call the church office. Otherwise, just

call each week to make your reservation.

Thank you in advance for helping us to keep an

accurate count and our costs down.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO... FEATURED HOMEBOUND:

From the Pastor’s Desk

The new church year officially begins in September, and our new church year will begin with our STEWARDWHIP

OF LIFE EMPHASIS. Special services will begin with morning worship on September 7. Rev. Jerry Sosebee will be our

featured speaker. I am especially excited about the Sunday evening service that day. It will be a joint baptismal service at 6

in the COAC. New Beginnings and Faith Baptist are invited to unite with us in the evening services Sunday, Monday, and

Tuesday. Let’s take this opportunity to Renew our Passion for the Lord and His Church.

Please continue to lift up Saeed Abedini, the Christian pastor who is being imprisoned and tortured in Iran. See

Darlene Griffin or Jennifer Addis to get a card for mailing to our President on his behalf.

One more word on the Stewardship of Firstfruits. Maybe you are wondering, “What is the difference between

firstfruits and tithes?” Think of it this way: all your tithes are a kind of firstfruits, but not all firstfruit offerings are tithes.

Firstfruit offerings can be gifts to honor the Lord that are over and above our regular tithe.
