Disclosed is a method for urea finishing. A urea
solution is subjected to crystallization and, other
than in conventional processes, the urea crystals
are shaped by exerting mechanical force onto
them. Thus, the conventional prilling or
granulation finishing steps can be avoided, and so
are the corresponding emissions of ammonia
and/or dust. The crystallization comprises a flash
crystallization. The invention also pertains to the
urea particles obtainable by the process, to a urea
plant.

“Bioelectrotrophic synthesis of
polyhydroxyalkonates from waste molasses and
carbon dioxide”
143050
Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are produced using
bio-electrochemical synthetic (BES) technique,
from waste molasses, mixture of (carbon dioxide:
Oxygen) gases and microorganisms. The two
stage strategy heterotrophic-electroautotrophic
growth was integrated in this system for bio-mass
and PHA production. The intracellular
Polyhydroxyalkanoates accumulates as granules
inside the cells are environment friendly
polymers. Cupriavidus necator was cultivated in
the cathode chamber of microbial fuel cell which
is poised at -400mV by DC power supply at 32°C.
The continuous spurge of carbon dioxide with
regular interval of time enhanced the
accumulation of biopolymer. Bio-cathode
development enhanced the electroactivity of cells
resulted in more intracellular products in less time
duration. The exceeding cathode recovery range is
attributed by bacterial reduction of carbon dioxide
and organic compounds in molasses to polymers.
The overall recovery is more than 90% due to the
redox electroactivity of microbes.
