FROM THE OFFICE OF R.C.I.A. A rite is a ritual event that marks a person’s transition from one stage to another. A liturgical rite has the power to transform not only the lives of those seeking to enter the Catholic
Church but also the parish community. One liturgical rite is the Rite of Sending in the Order of Catechumens which is of the utmost importance. At the conclusion of the Period of the Catechumenate, a Rite of Sending of the Catechumens to their election by the bishop may be celebrated in the Parish. This Rite of Sending offers the Parish community the opportunity to express its approval of the Catechumens and to send them forth to the celebration of election assuring them the Parish’s care and support. Let us pray for our Catechumens who celebrate this Rite: Elissa A. Herrera, Vennette Aguilar, Danielle Sierra Hernandez, and Cassidy Nguyen.

That Man Is You! Men’s Group has begun its 13-week Spring Semester on Sundays from 7:00 - 8:30 a.m. in the CNE. Rosary at 6:30 a.m. is optional. This is for all men 18 and older who want to increase their faith of the Catholic Church teachings.
LAUDS AND VESPERS All are invited to pray Lauds (morning prayer) on Sundays at 7:00 a.m. and Vespers I (Evening prayer) on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and Vespers II on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. in the Church before Mass. Please come early, and join us in prayer.

APOLOGETICS The Saint Joseph Parish Apologetics Apostolate is open to adult men and women and post-Confirmation young adults who are interested in becoming better equipped to explain and defend the Catholic faith when opportunities arise to do so (1 Peter 3:15). The range of topics may include: Marian devotions, Holy Mass and the Eucharist, the Blessed Trinity, Salvation, and other truths of the Catholic faith. Apologetics Apostolate weekly meetings are Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the east portable classroom #140. Newcomers are always welcome.

About our Catholic Faith Saint Isadore of Seville Feast Day: April 4
The 76 years of Isidore’s life were a time of conflict and growth for the Church in Spain. The Visigoths had invaded the land a century and a half earlier, and shortly before Isidore’s birth they set up their own capital. They were Arians—Christians who said Christ was not God. Thus, Spain was split in two: One people (Catholic Romans) struggled with another (Arian Goths). Isidore reunited Spain, making it a center of culture and learning. The country served as a teacher and guide for other European countries whose culture was also threatened by barbarian invaders. Born in Cartagena of a family that
included three other sibling saints—Leander, Fulgentius and Florentina—he was educated by his elder brother, whom he succeeded as bishop of Seville. An amazingly learned man, he was sometimes called “The Schoolmaster of the Middle Ages” because the encyclopedia he wrote was used as a textbook for nine centuries. He required seminaries to be built in every diocese, wrote a Rule for religious orders, and founded schools that taught every branch of learning. Isidore wrote numerous books, including a dictionary, an encyclopedia, a history of Goths, and a history of the world—beginning with creation! He completed the Mozarabic liturgy, which is still in use in Toledo, Spain. For all these reasons, Isidore has been suggested as patron of the Internet. Several others—including Anthony of Padua—also have been suggested. He continued his austerities even as he approached age 80.
