It's that time of year again, time for the Teacher and Staff Appreciation Dinner before conferences on April 20th. If you are interested in helping with this event or would like to contribute, please write Sue Marvin at [email protected] let her know how you would like to help. We'll have an opportunity for you to sign up using Sign up Genius as well. Thanks so much! Attention Seniors: The nomination process is now over and final voting for Mock Elections is open on the CHS homepage until Friday, March 27th. Please get your votes in as soon as possible. AP Exam Registration Deadline Approaching! Any student wishing to take an Advanced Placement exam this year should turn in their registration form and payment to Mrs. Scott by Friday, March 20. A non-refundable deposit of fifteen dollars per exam will hold a spot and the remaining amount will be due by Friday, April 23. If you have more questions about Advanced Placement exams or need a registration form please stop into Student Services or contact Mrs. Scott, the AP coordinator. Caledonia Students for Life is sponsoring a drive for the HELP Pregnancy Crisis Aid Center and Pregnancy Resource Center. This event will be a 3rd macro competition. We are asking students and teachers to bring in diapers, wipes, baby food. Winning 3rd macro will get a pizza party.
Congratulations DECA!! Yesterday 5 of our students won their event in the state DECA competition among nearly 4000 of their peers from across the state. Please congratulate Gabby Kerr and Samantha Jansma for their Advertising Campaign and returning champions, Alexa Callaway, Steph Birkmeier, and Irene Mead for their Fashion Merchandising Promotion. These students will be moving on to International competition next month in Orlando Florida. Cody Jakiel and Ben Hamp were overall finalists for their International Business Plan. Bailey Green for Hospitality and Tourism Sales. Caleb Schantz, and Caleb Sleeman overall finalist in Entrepreneurship Innovation, and the team of Kale Alexander, Austin Coon and Austin Watkins were an overall finalist in Leadership and Teamwork. Matt Kikkert won a medal for scoring a top ten finish for Math testing and Eric Pinder medaled for Marketing testing.
STATE COMPETITION MARCH 13 - 15
Caledonia FFA Members Recognized As Michigan’s Best: The Caledonia FFA chapter had another outstanding showing at the state convention held March 11th to the 13th at Michigan State University. Over 2500 people attended the convention where many awards were presented and the state finals in leadership contests were held. Caledonia FFA had a delegation of over 40 members, parents, advisors, and alumni in attendance. The Caledonia FFA was recognized with the National Chapter Gold Award for outstanding chapter programs in the areas of student, chapter and community development. Only 15 Michigan chapters out of 110 earned a gold chapter award. Caledonia was also recognized for its accomplishments in the area of student, chapter and community programs. The Caledonia FFA was also recognized with a grant to support the agriscience education center programs from the Michigan FFA Foundation Glassbrook Endowment Fund. Voting delegates for the Caledonia FFA were Andrew Lanser, Tim Hirsch and Jordynn Skinner. The delegates elected new state officers and attended a legislative reception at the state capitol. FFA was recognized by both the Senate and the House of Representatives during their respective business sessions. In the area of Leadership Development Events, the Caledonia first year members, known as Greenhands, performed well. The Greenhand Conduct of Meetings team earned a 4 th place gold award. Team members included Julian Buchan, Katelynn Potter, Alyssa DeGood, Courtney Bushart, Precious Stanton, Lauren Burgess and Abigail Ressler. Shannon Good earned a gold award and was state runner-up in Junior High Public Speaking. Kaitlyn Harper earned silver in Prepared Public Speaking. Madelyn Clark won a scholarship to attend the Washington Leadership Conference.
CALEDONIA FFA SUCCESS AT STATE
Caledonia FFA had six students earn the state FFA degree this year – Emily Folkema, Kylie Frahm, Cameron Hutson, Kyle Schaap, Matthew Rogers and Alexi Wolf. Seven students received the Outstanding Junior award – Lexi Lieske, Avery Verberg, Ashley Cross, Kaelynn Kerr, Andrew Lanser, Madeline Clark and Kenzie Newman. Thirteen students earned academic recognition from the FFA – Jenna Asper, Madeline Clark, Ashley Cross, Katherine Fairchild, Kylie Frahm, Kaitlynn Harper, Jon Hubbell, Abigail Munger, James Norton, Danielle Oracz, Carly Pieri, Jordyn Skinner and Alexi Wolf. Hailey Goble, Alexandria Schut and Jerry Pell were named as state proficiency award winners. The retiring state president, Alexandria Schut, and retiring state secretary, Ken VandenBout, presented their retiring speeches after their year of service to the Michigan FFA. The Caledonia FFA is a student organization of 90 members focusing on agriscience and natural resources, personal growth and community service. The Caledonia FFA was chartered on February 26, 1936. Nationally, over 500,000 members are involved in over 7,000 FFA chapters in the United States.

Dear Senior Families, Senior year is flying by but you still have time to get your payment in for the Senior All-‐Night Party! Final payments are due by Friday, April 17. Thanks to those who have sent in payments and contacted us with your plans. It is important that we get an accurate head count as soon as possible for the Senior All-Night Party. Donations may also be sent in for scholarships to anonymously help another student in need of assistance.
