                             March Break Activities • All  children  must  be  signed  up  before  the  registration  deadline  –  this  is  necessary  for  us  in  our  planning  and  transportation  arrangements  

• Please  ensure  all  information  is  up  to  date  on  the  registration  forms      i.e.  correct  emergency  contact  numbers  if  an  emergency  situation  should  arise  –  we  need  to  be  able  to  contact  someone  immediately  

• Children  10  and  under  must  have  parental  supervision/Guardian  18+      at  all  activities  scheduled  No  Exceptions  

• Transport  times  are  an  approximate  time  frame  –  A  bus  will  go  around  to  each  location  –  if  your  child  (10  and  under  parental  supervision)  is  waiting  at  the  end  of  the  driveway,  the  bus  driver  will    pick  you  and  your  child  up  –  they  will  not  wait  at  homes  for  people  

• We  will  provide  a  light  snack  at  all  the  daily  scheduled  activities  • Please  ensure  you  and  your  child  are  dressed  appropriately  for  the  weather  –  some  activities  are  outside  and  it  is  the  responsibility  of  children  to  ensure  proper  clothing  

• Please  try  and  leave  digital  devices  home  as  we  are  not  responsible  for  lost  or  stolen  items  

• Depending  on  weather  and  registration,  some  activities  may  change  –  we  will  keep  parents  posted  if  this  happens.    All  activities  subject  to  change.  

And  once  again…..don’t  forget  to  register  for  March  Break  activities  and  have  completed  and  dropped  off  at  the  Fort  William  First  Nation  Reception  (upstairs)by  Friday,  February  29th  ,  2016

Children’s Centre Thunder Bay works together with families, caregivers and a community of partners to make a real difference in the quality of life of children and youth. We are an accredited, not-for-profit organization providing treatment and support services for children and youth, from birth to 18 years, who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, developmental or social difficulties. The Centre is currently seeking to fill the following position:

(ONE) TEMPORARY FULL TIME CULTURAL COORDINATOR Union Position

Approximate Duration: February 2016 – May 2017 Varied hours of work, including evenings and weekends

Salary: $43,856 - $53,358 Responsibilities:

The Cultural Co-ordinator carries out duties as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within the New Experiences Program and agency as required. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of groups, the provision of addiction and mental health services to individuals and families, and consultation to youth/families, co-workers and other agencies. The Cultural Coordinator is required to work with diverse populations and work towards the inclusion of minority groups. This worker will incorporate Anishinabek traditions and values in all aspects of group, family, individual and consultation work with clients and agencies. Qualifications:

The Cultural Coordinator position requires a degree/diploma in Native Family Services or Aboriginal Studies or a degree/diploma in Social Work and/or Child and Youth Work. Three to five years of experience working with Aboriginal youth and their families in the children’s mental health, addictions or related field of practice is required. The position also requires a license from appropriate professional college, knowledge and experience in working with tradition healing practices, knowledge of the range of theories and experience in working with families and children who require addictions and mental health services, the ability to effectively communicate within an organizational environment, and a valid Ontario Driver's License. The ability to communicate in Ojibway, Oji-Cree and/or Cree is also an asset.

A  time  for  women  to  come  together  to  honour  Grandmother  Moon  and  ourselves;    

to  ask  for  renewed  strength,  guidance,  and  direction  in  our  lives;  

to  pray  for  all  of  our  families,  especially  for  the  family  of    

Harold  Pelletier,  to  give  them  strength,  peace  and  love  at  this  difficult    

time  in  their  lives,  and  prayers  for  healing  for  our  community.

 Position  Title:   Family  Support  Worker  –  One  Year  Contract    Position  Description:   Under   the  general   direction  of   the   FWFN  Chief   and  Council,  with  direct   supervision  

provided   by   the   Health   Centre   Manager,   provides   child   and   family   support   and  prevention  services  to  the  Fort  William  First  Nation  community.  

 Program  Work:  • Initiates   joint   assessment   of   and/or   responds   to   requests   from   administration,   individuals,   families   or   specific  

groups  to  jointly  assess  community  situations.  • Plans  action  with  the  community  designed  to  modify  identified  situations.  • Implements  a  mutually  agreed  upon  plan  (may  or  may  not  be  directly  involved  in  carrying  out  the  plans).  • Consistently  evaluates,  with   the  Health  Centre  Manager,  Chief  and  Council   and  Administration,  plans   community  

response  plans.  • Participates  willingly  and  constructively  in  the  supervision  process  with  the  Health  Centre  Manager.  • Acts   appropriately   and   fully   with   all   aspects   of   Fort   William   First   Nation   policies   and   procedures,   relevant  

legislation.  • Completes  all  records,  forms  and  documents  as  directed  by  the  Health  Centre  Manager.  • Ensures  accuracy,  confidentiality  and  safekeeping  of  all  Fort  William  First  Nation  records.  • Proposes  changes  within  the  framework  of  Family  Support  Services  that  would  be  seen  to   improve  the  quality  of  

support  and  assistance  to  First  Nation  people.  • A  full  job  description  is  available  upon  request.      Qualifications:  • A  degree  or  diploma  in  the  Social  Service  and  Human  Behaviour  or  related  field  and/or  a  minimum  of  one

Land Code Development Committee

INVITATION TO THE MEMBERSHIP

Fort William First Nation will be developing a Land Code for ratification by the membership. The development process is anticipated to be completed by December 31st, 2017 with a vote by the membership to be held in the fall of 2017. Fort William First Nation is establishing a Land Code Development Committee to develop the Land Code, hold community consultation meetings, prepare the initial list of eligible voters, locate eligible voters, and develop the community ratification process document. The Land Code Development Committee will begin orientation meetings in March 2016 and complete the process of ratification of the land code in December 2017. Fort William First Nation Council is requesting letters of interest from members who may be interested in a seat on the land code development committee. Council anticipates a minimum of One (1) meeting(s) per month. The selection process will be based on community representation and (1) person per family group. Any member who may wish to tender their name for the Land Code Development Committee is requested to submit a letter of interest with a brief biography to the Chief and Council. Department: Communications Subject: Live Streaming-Chief & Council Meetings Date prepared: 01/20/16 Fort William First Nation Registered Band Members now have the capacity to view FWFN Chief and Council meetings live on www.fwfn.com effective, Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. In order to start this process, there are a couple steps that need to be taken first.

1. Go to www.fwfn.com , click on the yellow BROADCASTS link at the top of the home page. 2. You will need to create an account to access this Member ONLY porthole. Click on New User. 3. Fill out the New User Registration page including your Status Card Number. The registrations are held

for approval by the Communications Officer. 4. Once you have been approved for access, follow the same process as Step 1. 5. Then enter your user name and password, you will be redirected to the BROADCASTS page where you

will find the current Council Agenda (posted prior to the meeting) and the Live Stream viewer. 6. Council will begin live streaming at 5:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on the scheduled date of the

Council Meeting. Please note: Submission of your Status Card # is ONLY needed for the initial sign up registration process and is not required for any subsequent log in. All information is kept confidential and secured and is removed from the system once verified by the Communications Officer.
