Christian Education:

* We learned about the story of Jesus’ birth.

*We sang Praise songs and watched a video about Jesus’ birth.

*On Friday we got to go to our very first Chapel with the rest of the school! We said our Bible verse and we got to sing Christmas songs! Circle Time: *We learned about Christmas, Jesus’ birthday. *We practiced the days of the week and the months of the year. *We practiced our birthdays. Please continue to help us practice our birthdays so we don’t forget. *We will begin practicing our addresses after Christmas. Please help your child learn his/her street name.

*We learned about giving, our virtue for December; please help us practice giving at home. Language Arts/Fine Motor Skills:

* We dictated a letter to Santa. * We played a “Letter Light” game to practice the letters we have learned so far. * We made a pushpin stocking and numbers. * We practiced gluing with little dots to make a Christmas tree with lights. * We practiced cutting a baby Jesus surrounded by light. * We played with peppermint play dough. * We practiced writing our letters in shaving cream. * We read two similar stories and compared them. First we read The Night Before Christmas and then The First Christmas Night.

STEAM:

* We colored a red/white pattern on a candy cane. * We decorated a Christmas tree with 5 stickers. * We played a “Number Light” game to practice the numbers we have learned so far. * We counted poinsettias, ornaments and stars and practiced writing the numbers. * We had a Christmas STEAM building challenge every day. * On Friday we sorted Christmas bows into color, shape and size groups. * We also made Christmas slime! Art * We made Christmas wreaths by gluing tissue paper balls.

* We painted Christmas lights with our fingerprints! * We decorated stockings. * We made angels. * We made our parents’ Christmas gifts. Shhh… Many thanks to Reyna’s dad for taking care of the class while I went to the Strength Training inservice. The inservice was great and I recommend the books Strengths Based Parenting: Developing Your Children’s Innate Talents and Strengths by Mary Reckmeyer & Play to Their Strengths by Analyn & Brandon Miller. Brandon Miller led our training on Monday. Friday was a very special day for us. Not only did we get to dress in our pajamas and go to Chapel, but we also got to go see the beautiful Middle School performance of 1930’s Christmas in America during the Depression. We learned the how the Rockefeller Christmas tree custom got started and the middle school kids made homemade stars for us. Then, Jase’s dad dressed as the conductor from The Polar Express movie and gave us a golden ticket and a candy cane! Reminders: **Please donate to our annual fund drive. *Dec. 2- 17 – Student Council Food Drive – 106 – 114 oz. cans only (you can bring them to the Christmas program on Dec. 17.)

Shaving Cream Letters, Peppermint Playdough, and Christmas Slime!
