    Design process

    Concept:

    1) Cultural mosaicDifferent colors refer to different ethnic groups, languages and culture. The puzzle lookimplicates that people are fitting together harmoniously despite the differences.

    2) Living The outline of the puzzle is in the shape of a house.

    3) Learning and communication The left pieces of the puzzle imitates a speaking person, with nose, eye and an open

mouth. While the right pieces looks like a listening person, whose ear compensates with the speaking persons mouth.

    Choice for color:

    1) Colorful Since colors are used to show difference, the palette is rather colorful. I started with the

colors that are similar to human skin colors, and then tried to find other colors that are in harmony with the chosen colors.

    2) Bright Since the organization mainly accomodates students, I tried to use some bright colors to show energy and vigor.

    Choice for typography:

Myriad Pro shows a high readability in different sizes. And its neutral look is very suitable fororganizations.

    Design process:

The first step was to read the brief. After reading it, I noted down the concepts and elementsto be represented by the logo. Then I searched online to gain some inspiration from othersabout how they are trying to show these concepts and elements. After that, I learnt from mycollections and designed 3 versions of the logo. After discussion with fellow students andprofessor, I selected one that best conveys the messages and refined its look.
